Nice shots. Is truck 52 the first bread of Dash in Chicago? I noticed it doesnt have LEDs on the front.
Yes Truck 52 was amongst the first two Pierce Dash Aerials delivered. The other one delivered is at Truck 47 on the north side.Truck 52 and 47 both have White Aerials while all of the others have Grey Aerials.

Technically speaking our First Pierce Aerial is Tower Ladder 63 which was delivered to O'Hare Field and is a 1996 Lance(Yellow) Tower Ladder. The Airport Company's are funded by the Federal Government through the FAA

As far as our Straight Pierce Aerials Trucks 52 and 47 were the prototypes and are classified as 2000 models while the next two groups of 18 and 11 are classified as 2002 models wich includes Truck 6's rig which didn't go inservice until March of 2004 at Engine 13's station.Truck 6 had been out of service for over 40 years as they were taken out of service in August of 1963 when their Old Station was shut down which they shared with Engine 40 and our Old Squad 1 for the last 2 years before the house were closed down.

Late last year we had two Pierce Straight Aerials delivered. One is a 100 footer for Truck 51 and the second was a 105 footer with a Prepiped Waterway which replaced Aerial Tower (Truck 1's) 135 foot ,1988 E\-One.

We currently have 33 Pierce Aerial Ladders and 6 Pierce Tower Ladders out of a total of 51 Frontline Aerial Ladders and 10 Frontline Tower Ladders.

Firepost!

Aerial Tower 3 getting ready to go to work at an extra alarm fire on the West side sometime in the late '80's I think!

Missed one from the 2001 group....Engine 63

Chicago Fire Department - photog999 - 07-02-2006

This is one of my favorite shots. Engine 56 with their then almost new Spartan/Luverne working at a 5-11 and 1 special in the old Stewart Warner facility back in 1993. Eng. 56 was the first due engine on the still for this fire.

Engine 61, now out of service permanently and the manpower was used to create Truck 12 up on the North Side.
