Relics - Guest - 12-23-2006 while I was taking a picture of the old airport fire truck (previous picture) a Bentonia, Mississippi Fire truck sneaks up behind me to refill for water because the mill in town was on fire. The red car next to the fire truck is mine which is a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix. Both pictures were taken in March of 2006. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 On Christmas Day, we drove from Dallas, Texas to Amarillo, Texas via US-287, which neither of us had been on before. We were pleasantly surprised to come across a few roadside rigs along the way. Unfortunately, the December sun and the time of day were working against us. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> First up is a 1970's American LaFrance 1000 Series Engine that was lettered for Port Arthur Fire Department. It was sitting just south of Sunset, Texas. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 This Oshkosh crash truck was sitting in an equipment yard just south of where the ALF was. There were at least two other crash trucks in the same lot. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 Up the road a piece, near Vernon, Texas, sat this 1954 Ford that was lettered for the Electra Fire Department (a town just south of Vernon). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information plates on it. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 Another view of the 1954 Ford. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 Sitting in an equipment lot outside of Childress, Texas, was this American LaFrance Pioneer Series Engine (1000 G.P.M. Pump). Its Registered No. is P1.1.2078. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 Another view of the American LaFrance. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 This little General/Ford was sitting in front of the Estelline City Hall in Estelline, Texas. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 Another view of the General/Ford. Relics - Guest - 12-27-2006 The last picture was taken near Newlin, Texas. I'm not sure what this truck's previous service life might've been, but it was painted red and looked kind-of neat. So, here it is.
