Relics - Guest - 06-05-2015 Former LAFD Snorkel 27 1970 Crown 85' Sister to Sn 3 that overturned and killed Thomas Collier on July 5, 1970. Loaded on Flat Car at the old Southern Pacific Taylor Yard. Located just NE of Downtown. Taken mid 80's. Destination unknown. Photo by John King (Father) My collection Relics - npfd801 - 06-30-2015 Quote:I was recently in Huntsville AL and saw this relic outside of "Firehouse Antiques"Was there this week. Still there, along with a poor old ladder. Relics - Image7801 - 08-18-2015 Found this old gal outside a liquor store in Montrose, Colorado last month. It was locked up, so I couldn't get an exact year, but it's a circa '60-66 GMC B7000 with Sutphen bodywork and a front mount Barton American model UA50 pump. I'm guessing it's probably a 500gpm, based simply on the model # of the pump. Unknown on the tank size. According to the fender it has (or maybe had?) the somewhat rare GM "Twin-six" 702cid V12 engine. I don't know it's history, but would guess that it's probably ex-Montrose FD. They used to have slime colored rigs before going back to red a few years ago, IIRC. Relics - nealcraig - 10-09-2015 Not a fire engine but a relic nonetheless. Old Springfield ambo found in Saluda SC. My local squad used to have a Springfield Type 3 that ran for years and years. Relics - Andrew2340 - 10-12-2015 Found this truck at a shop in Knoxville, TN last Saturday. Can anyone help me out with the pump & tank (water and foam) sizes please? Medford, TN "Former 762" 1956 IHC V-196/National Foam ???/???/??? S/N # ME67 Formerly served Wilmington Manor, DE as "Chemical Unit 32" Andrew Messer Photo Relics - Guest - 10-12-2015 The upper handle on the suction cap points to the oblong capacity/pressure handwheel, which identifies it as a Hale pump. Capacity is at least 500 gpm, as indicated by the two 2-1/2" discharges. The intake appears to be 5", which may indicate a pump of at least 750 gpm. Relics - Image7801 - 04-26-2016 Happened across this old rig in Nevada. 1963 Crown Firecoach 1250/500, ex. L.A. County. S/N F1292, LACo Shop 49185 Hall-Scott 1091 Gasoline Engine Originally LACo Engine 11 - Altadena Retired 1985 Sold to Shoshone Mountain FD in Ione, NV. Now resides at the Beatty, NV Museum and Historical Society It's not in great shape, but better than rusting away in the weeds. Data courtesy of crownisking.org website Relics - Image7801 - 06-06-2016 Here's another relic from my travels...Found in the town of Three Rivers, California. 195x Chevrolet/Unknown Barton American 500gpm front mount pump Labeled for "Van Buren Twp Fire Dept" (Michigan, maybe?) There were no tags/plates anywhere to be found. The body could be Howe, but it's really hard to tell. The original tank (if there was one) was replaced with an ugly gray steel tank that filled the entire hose bed. The "Q" doesn't look all that old, actually. Relics - Image7801 - 06-06-2016 Right next to the Chevy above, there was this International L190/Coast pumper. It has Coast serial #844, on the original builders plate. The pump plate shows it as a Waterous 750gpm, built in 1952. This rig was not in nearly as good shape as the Chevy. No markings on it indicating prior Department. Relics - Image7801 - 06-06-2016 Here's the other side of the IHC/Coast... Relics - bcfd424 - 08-26-2016 I found this in Lincolnton, NC about 3 weeks ago. He was using it as a mobile food truck. x Niles FD, OH Ladder 1993 Pierce Arrow / 1977 American LaFrance 100' RM F-3066 / CE-14-5191 Relics - engine98 - 12-23-2016 Found this 1963 Ford/Hahn 750/500 Engine in Nelson, Clark County Nevada a while back.
