Was just in Boston this past weekend for Game 6 of the Stanley Cuo finals, and managed to get a few "shots of opportunity"

This is the view from my hotel room, the Purchase Street firehouse.

Every morning all the rigs were pulled out of the bay and onto the ramp. The only rig missing and not in the firehouse was the Dive Unit, J20.

I am preety sure J20 is now using the old air sluppy unit (little Ford E\-One parked behind Tech Support unit in pic) as the old J20 died.

Taken while on strike team duty in Monson, MA after the tornado are the 179th and 180th Engineering Detachment based at the Mass Military Reservation. They responded with 4 or their tactical firefighting trucks. 2 tankers and 2 engines. The engine had a full compliment of equipment you would find on regular structural apparatus as well as a full set of extrication gear and airbags.

What a site to see these monsters respond to calls in Monson!

Fictitious Ripton, MA - there was an article in the local paper about it, but I can't find it online, yet...I am not even sure it was originally a fire truck.

Update from where else but the good ol' Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ripton,_Massachusetts

Woburn Engine 6, citys only spare vehicle. Former Wakefield and Reading Engine

1986 Mack cf/Pirsch. This engine is in service running as a frontline piece

most weeks and gets wailed on, but keeps going! Love working in it.

Is that running place of Ladder 2? I saw it on a run a few weeks back at the restaurant in the Stop & Shop parking lot. One spare, and a spare of that vintage is really something...but it's a Mack, it'll keep running as long as you need it to.

Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 07-06-2011

It ran as Ladder 2 from April to mid May, Then Ran as Engine 4 for month of June.

It had alot of work done to it, and other then little 2 minutes fixes, it holds up well.

Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 07-07-2011

Thats the thing with the older rigs, you can make the 2 min fixes at the station and keep it on the run, with the new rigs you can't do anything to keep them on the run, they always crack the sads with electronics etc. There is something to be said for the older basic rigs, better off refurbing them as spares.

It appears the old Mack is running better then the newer Pierces.

I drove this truck a few times as well as the Mack I believe you guys got from Reading/Wakefield before this one. 2 GREAT trucks that with a little TLC, will keep running forever.

The older Mack failed at a fire or 2, small fix but that was the end, the guys hated it unfortunetly

They suck. They all bitch about the Mack cfs but if they had to run rescue 2 , then it would be a different story. It's starting to rust. Cab floor and front fenders. I give it a year tops.
