1979 - they had a 79 Century engine too which as I recall the story they had taken the engine back to Elmira for some factory work and saw the Homestead truck sitting there, someone asked what ALF was doing with it and the rest is history.

It outlasted that engine, the Century 2000 after it and as someone here mentioned was paired with the Smeal Quint they bought. It left and they ended up buying the NASCAR Pierce from Mercer Road to have a type one pumper.

Quote:Carrolltown, PA ran this 1940 American LaFrance pumper that had a 500 gpm pump and a 150 gallon water tank.

That hood could be a little bit longer......

North Braddock VFD # 3 Ward LaFrance "Papa Grape" or "Half Breed". The half breed is for the fact that it had a Mack engine. Either it was delivered with a gas engine or the original motor blew out and was replaced. I have heard both as reasons for the Mack engine. The Mack Bulldog sits on top of the bell mounted on the front bumper. It is sad to see it in the condition it is in sitting in the junkyard of Keystone Apparatus.[/quote]

It definatly has Mack wheels on the front to.

Who completed the refurb on the Lyndora ladder? I have it as a 1979/97 ALF 100'. According to firetec's website of deliveries. It was sold Barnstable, MA. from Lackawanna, NY in 2006. I'm going to guess that Lackawanna, NY. bought it when Lyndora sold it. They could not have had it very long though. The 1979 ALF engine Lyndora had was sold to Westmont FC in Cambria County, and then sold again to Stoystown FC in Somerset County where it is still in service.

Bucks county historical society had a few local built rigs like this, built in Reading. They would not let me scan anything though...
