New Dodge Ambulances for FDNY, photo by wgboy over on www.ozfire.org reposted here with permission.

What is the difference in overall length compared to their current ambulances? Why the 4 door cab?

F.D.N.Y. - goon16 - 09-24-2011

I'm sorry I meant hooking up to a hydrant

Why does the DODGE Ambulance have and FDNY ID # of CA.... Is it for CUMMINS Ambulance or Chrysler?

F.D.N.Y. - Juice - 09-24-2011

Could it be Crewcab Ambulance?

Trav!

F.D.N.Y. - smketrfdny - 09-24-2011

While some on here may find out before me, I go back to work on Tues and will look into it. With the job usually going with the chassis manufacturer, I am going to lean towards Chrysler. Why not Dodge, we may soon find out. But with Seagrave, Mack, Ford, Etc., I would have thought they would have went with a "DA" for Dodge.

We shall soon find out...............

Stay safe, Brothers.

F.D.N.Y. - jquest6368 - 09-25-2011

FDNY has always used "C" for any vehicle built by the Chrysler company. A few examples I can think of are all of the Plymouth Gran Fury's in the 1980's assigned to the Divisions, and the Dodge Ram vans assigned to the Building Maintenance mechanics in the 1990's.

F.D.N.Y. - smketrfdny - 09-25-2011

And THERE'S your answer......lol. Come to think of it, now I recall those Gran Fury's having the "CS" designation.

Thanks for the refresher.

Stay safe, Brothers.

Should it be FA for Fiat, after the last "merger?" Sorry, couldn't help myself...

ex FDNY Sp9716, now in Brookfield Auto Wreckers, Elmsford, NY

Hard to tell but doesn't look to be one of the older rigs and looks in good condition (although hard to tell in a picture) pity they have to cover it in black paint.

FDNY or NYC requires that no PD or FD unit has markings that when sold look like units in service. you can not buy the rig then use it as against the city...

Looks similar to the Neptune pumps that NJ has. They also have 12 inch hose.

Looks like this...

Quote:Contains 2200 gpm pumping system, hose recovery unit for large diameter hose (6",8",10",12"), six cylinder Cummins turbo charged engine, hose box that holds up to 2 miles of 6" hose, hose recovery unit picks up hose automatically without physical labor and can be flaked into the hose boxes. The pump system allows for water to be moved over long distances by positive displacement (NO DRAFTING REQUIRED). Emergency water discharge or supply needs immediately available in a containerized or fixed system. It can supply all liquid needs to towns including drinking water, sanitation, fire protection and flood discharging to protect property. Government agencies and fire departments can use this technology to respond to acts of terrorism such as fires, disabling drinking water, floods etc. This system can move high capacity flow over 2 miles with a single 2200 gpm pump. We also have available a mini version that includes a pump and a power source for 1200 gpm.

F.D.N.Y. - ACPD227 - 10-03-2011

I just got back from a 3 day trip to NYC. I took several photos of FDNY trucks but they are not posed and many time not sitting still. I also found that FDNY dosent sit still for very long and some A@@hole is always walking into your picture or driving into them.
