The bodywork was originally supposed to be from Ranger. Apparently, the chassis was at the Ranger plant when the IRS came in to shut down operations and chain up the gates. Orchard Beach got a call (a heads up) that things were about to get bad and a suggestion was made that if they wanted their chassis, they had better come up and get it quick. E\-One ended up with the job of finishing up the rest of the unit.

Although this started life as "Tele-Squirt 11", it ended it's life in Anne Arundel County as "Water Tower 11". Orchard Beach had plans to make this into a truck but found out that the ladders manufactured on that type of boom were for emergencies only. The designation of Water Tower occurred after Orchard Beach was not able to call it a "Truck".

Juergen,

Woodlawn's mack squirt is still serving down in Argentina. If Tim sees this thread I believe he has a picture of it down there.

This unit was purchased some time ago by Kent Island VFD on Maryland's Eastern Shore (Queen Anne's County Co. 1) and is still in service there.

Earleigh Heights; post#431 wrecked during response, replaced with post #421

Bethesda; junked somewhere in Southern MD.

Germantown; this may have been one of the aerials donated to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 9/05.

I believe the engines from Pleasant Valley and Winfield are still in service.

God bless this rig! I caught my first working fire on it in 1995, when it was running as Wagon 6 at Coles District Volunteer Fire Department in Prince Wiliam County, Va.

Boy, can she haul!

Enjoy her, fellas!

I believe you are very confused about this rig... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />

Ok. Just going by what was told to me by a current member there. It certainly looks exactly like the old Wagon 6, except it use to be yellow. Perhaps you could alleviate my "confusion" and just provide the facts.... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />

OK, first of all, if a Winfield member told you that, they are either sadly misinformed or yanking your chain.

I have shot this rig 3 times during its service, including at a LODD fire in 1993, Winfield bought this new and its always been white...

The 1989 ALF 2000 Series from Coles Dist.,VA. went to the Mt.Aetna VFD#16 in Washington County,Maryland, was repainted white/red, and has since been replaced.

Just trying to be a source of correct internet info, some of us here have been at this awhile! (before the internet)

There is also at least a half-dozen Balto., MD. and PA buffs that will back me on this, but most of them rarely post here anymore...

Cheers
