The main benefit is visibility from the sides, especially entering an intersection. You've got to remember that they came out long before the advent of LED lighting, so it was primarily just strobe, halogen and incandescent lighting. I scrolled these pages with no luck. Thanks in advance for any help NYPD - Guest - 03-15-2008 Don't know the address but I believe its in the Maspeth section of Queens near the Brooklyn Queens Expressway in the area of Calvery Cemetery. Just look for the building with the antenna farm on the roof. It's one of those places I know how to get to but couldn't tell you how to get there. I was there for a meeting about six months ago and very few vehicles were parked on the street. Years ago you could find dozens of vehicles parked up and down the local streets. I have to think you would start getting alot of attention if you started taking pictures, not that taking pictures is illegal but you wants to argue with a NYC cop? NYPD - Pete(UK) - 03-15-2008 They cant argue with you if you are 20,000 feet up in the air, LOL NYPD - Guest - 03-16-2008 I remember some signs along the street that taking photos is prohibited there.
