1st Hendrickson Tractor I've seen. I like it!!

I was just going to say that...I'm not sure I've seen any kind of aerial on that chassis.

[/quote]I was wondering if this was a replacement or a refurb, or if it was ordered with the Hendrickson cab originally?

One of the last S model Maxims purchased by Springfield. For years they ran with guys on the tailboard, the early 1980's saw them purchase several variations of the S-model with canopy cabs, and later, these 4-door versions. The only other 4-door rig in the department at the time was the Rescue Squad.

I'm loving all of the old school Maxims, it's amazing what percentage of the apparatus in Mass. that was Maxim 30 years ago. Would love to see some North Shore stuff if you have any!

I gotta ask. What Was/Is the big desire/need for Cab Mounted Turrets on engines?

The older rigs you see them on were departments that had an airport in their community or were immediately adjacent to an airport. I think there might have been some Federal funding involved.

The Boston rigs are part of a Federal mandate, and are on the rigs that are first due to the tunnels of I93 and the Mass Pike.

A lot of Towers used the Hendrickson chassis. There was also a few RMs I recall seeing. Don't recall any MMs though.
