Actually, it was a friend from here in Prince William County that gave me the info on the rig, as I had been looking for a good pic of her in her next life for some time. No worries. Hi folks, not sure if we have got a thread for Maryland apparatus like the NY and PA threads, so I thought I'd start one, and hopefully we can keep it going. I only have one picture in my collection from a visit to a station in Maryland and here it is. I visited the Port Deposit Station of the Waterwitch Fire Company back in 2003 on one of my many roadtrips for my work. At the time of my visit they were running this Ford C/??? Engine as Engine-7.

Mt Aetna VFD sent the 1989 Century 2000 rig (#2054) to Keystone Fire Apparatus where the 2000/1000 unit got a refurb and paint job. It was replaced by a KME several years ago.

Mt.Aetna ran ALFs of various models and vintages from their start around 1970. This one, a 1948 700 series 1500/300, came from the Western Enterprise VFC #4 of Hagerstown,MD.
The ALF behind this is 1 of 2 1973 ALF engines from Silver Spring,MD., but these rigs passed to a Carlisle,PA. collector.
The 700 series is still privately owned, I think.

For a very few years in the late 80's-early 90's, Mt. Aetna ran a truck co. I don't know where it came from, but it's a combo of a 1975? ALF cab with the body and 100' aerial from a 1951 700 series.

This 1982 Duplex/Grumman 1250/600 engine was bought new by Mt.Aetna, but the search for a reliable 2nd engine would lead to the parade of 2nd-hand ALFs over the next 16 years.

This 1959 ALF 900 series 750/500 came from Frederick,MD's Junior FC #2, and served for several years in the late 80's.

An interesting combo was this 1966 ALF 900 series from ? and in 1988 4-Guys attached a tandem axle 1250/2250 body.
Served until about 2002, and was last seen at the nearby Hagerstown Raceway dragstrip.

After using a 1969 ALF/82 rehab 1250/500 from Elkridge,MD., which I don't have a shot of, in 1995 Mt. Aetna acquired this 1982 ALF Century 1500/1000 from Cherry Hill,NJ, and sent it to Keystone Fire App. for rehab. This rig was also replaced by another KME.

Actually, many of Co. 16's calls take them eastward UP South Mtn., on either I-70 or US 40, and you can bet that tanker took a while, with the DD6-71 screaming. The 700 Series is owned by BFC Dieterich of the Hagerstown Fire Department, president of Antietam Fire Apparatus in Hagerstown. It is currently in the shop for a complete, frame-up restoration. Progress is slow but its lookin' good!

One of the Silver Spring ALF's is owned by a Cheaspeake Antique Fire Apparatus Member and is making the rounds to the different shows in the Metro-DC area!!
