I've been listening to the AFD this afternoon and have a few questions

--Is the Third truck RIT?

--What is the CS (community Service ) Car that is dispatched on the box?

--When will the new 11 open? Just heard 15's run bells at Atalntic station.

In Memory of Steven M. Soloman. LODD - 11/29/2006. FF Solomon was severely burned Thanksgiving night in a flashover while operating at a vacant home in Atlanta. FF Solomon had been with Atlanta Fire-Rescue for 4 months, but had been a firefighter with Macon-Bibb Fire Department for 6 years prior to that.

--Is the Third truck RIT?

YES, they coordinate with the second engine and become the "RIT Group"

--What is the CS (community Service ) Car that is dispatched on the box?

Customer Service-5 is a van that responds to provide assistance and support to those displaced by the fire while fire ground operations are going on. This is the time when no one from the working firefighting units have time to talk to the people who are in panic mode and are watching their home and stuff burn up. The unit originally had salvage equipment like plywood and boxes as well as survival items such as tooth brushes, deodorant and soap for those displaced. I even assisted a person one time in getting an essential prescription on a weekend through a local pharmacy and our medical director. They also assist in making arrangements for emergency shelter through the Red Cross. Everything has pretty much been used up on the and not replaced. It's a great idea if it's used right, but it is too progressive of an idea for Atlanta. We've been told that it will be taken out of service soon.

--When will the new 11 open? Just heard 15's run bells at Atlantic station.

Anybody's guess. It's not even under construction yet. I really can not comment any further on it. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tisktisk.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tisktisk' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_crazy' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wacko' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Unsure' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Angry' />

Thanks CS-5 does sound like a great idea, but in may even be to progressive for teh great Fairfax Fire Department. Will have to see if the Rube tries to introduce it in FDDC. Maybe I should recommend it and let it get shot down until someone like Rubin comes up with it.

Thanks for the other info. I guess I had heard so much about the new !! that I though it was about to open. It will cut down on 23's runs.

Be safe

Current house at 170 10th St. NE in the "Midtown" area. Dedicated in 1986. It is a double company now housing Engine 15 and Truck 15 (TDA). Also houses the 3rd Battalion Headquarters. About 6 months ago the Truck Company was renumbered to Truck 15 as it had been operating as Truck 11 for many years. This was done in preparation of the new Station 11 which hopefully will be built soon.
