I saw on FB that MWAA was at Oshkosh today for inspection of a unit. Anyone know how many, what type of Striker, and where they are destined?

Washington Metro Airports Authority VA - Guest - 02-23-2012

I believe they are there inspecting a new pumper. I saw where they had ordered a new one.

Washington Metro Airports Authority VA - FTLAUD - 02-23-2012

That's correct, MWAA is up there for a new Arrow XT pumper...to be delivered April/May time. Going to be virtually identiical to Engine 301/303. It will be replacing the current Engine 301-B (Old Rescue Engine 324). There will be a striker ordered this year, but nothing's been done yet.

Washington Metro Airports Authority VA - lawrencewhite111 - 02-23-2012

Can anyone say if they have ex E380 numbered as E303B still at Dulles FS 303?

Yes, it is a spare for IAD, and is normally kept there. When the tower goes OOS, it heads to FS302 and runs as E303B out of there

What will become of what was RE-324 (the Quantum)? I saw it last year, and it didn't appear to be in bad shape.

Will make some Company a real good first out pumper if it is sold.

Thanks for confirming Chris. I saw on FB that they were at Pierce and stopped by to say hi at Oshkosh. Should have 301-B just in time for my next trip.

324 will be sold following the usual mwaa property process.

Its not completely a done deal that the next ARFF Unit will be an Oshkosh-- there is some scuttle but that it could be a Rosenbauer (my hope anyway).

I predict that Rosenbauer will out-sell Pierce within 5 years, and for good reason.

I agree, just my personal opinion.

If you think globally, they kinda already do.

Washington Metro Airports Authority VA - Guest - 02-29-2012

Actually on the ARFF Side, Rosenbauer is making a pretty comperable product and the new Oshkosh Striker has a lot of the features that the Rosenbauer Panther has (I'm not saying they copied it but its an awful coincidence that they rolled out something very similar after going to airports that have Rosie's). The Rosenbauer version of the Snozzle is a much better product and its a pretty nice truck to drive.
