Ladder 10 leaving the Blue Mass ceremonies. Note the NYS license plate in the lower right hand corner of the rig.

How many other FF get license plates showing their company and use the plate on the rig after its use as a POV plate has expired?

FDNY Purple K

I came across these today at the 75th anniversary celebration of Flod Bennet Field, NYC's firist municipal airport.

Engines 228 and 229 have these as second pieces. There are four more in the fleet awaiting company assignment.

Here's 228, side view

Here'e the nozzle used. It's can shoot the powder 90 feet, as well as be used as a foam nozzle.

There is no greater body of tongue-in-cheek humor than can be found in a fire dept. This intake cover is what is normally used on the steamer connection on a NYC fire hydrant.

I believe you're thinking of the FDR Drive Highway Response vehicles. The one that was stationed with Engine 16 was deactivated in April 2001. I'm not sure about the one stationed with Engine 44, but it may be gone as well.

These nozzles are only about a year old. Any other pics of 229 and the purple K rig. They're the engine in my house and I was also wondering if you'd mind if I copied this onto my comp to brig to the FH. I promise to only make fun of the little guy sitting in a booster seat to drive the purple K rig. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />
