Guess the casino business must be good for the Pala tribe if they are getting rid of the aerial after less than 10 years (I'm guessing they are replacing it, not downsizing). I remember seeing the truck when it was brand new. Nice photo!

Hasn't been replaced yet. Not sure if they have plans to do so or not. The former truck crew is now staffing a brush engine. Probably a far better choice of vehicle given the topography and average call types.

Jefferson Monroe Township Fire Department is based in Swisher, IA.  Just off of I-380, the station faces east.  I was fortunate one afternoon on the way home from work to find almost all of the apparatus outside.

The lineup.  The boat and 149 were still inside.  I hope you enjoyed.

Solon 131 has made it to its new home after the trade show in Indiana.  My neighbor, a career firefighter as well as a Solon volunteer, remarked this is probably the only time he'll work with a rig that he also saw at a trade show.  131 is shown on a stormy evening this past week, with the older 131 in the far bay.  Solon 132 has been sold to Blakesburg, IA, but has not left town yet.

The neat thing about this truck is the rear axle is also a steer axle.  This truck is at Coralvilles station 2. They have a 100' platform at station 1.

Quote:When we were looking for a used quint, there was an extraordinary percentage of them available that were ALF chassis units. There has to be a reason why... Most were 10-12 years old.

I would encourage both of you to look through the inventory of Brindlee Mountain or any other larger broker. Most of the equipment is under 12 years old regardless of brand.....

When we looked specifically for 75 foot quints, in the ten year old range, the vast majority were ALF units, both LTI and AI aerials, but the common thread was the ALF chassis.  There were a fair amount of E-Ones, but they were all considerably older.  Very few of anything else was available that wasn't old and beat to hell...

Will, Glad to see you on Firepics.

Iowa Rigs - Will - 05-18-2013

Thanks. I've got more pics of my depts trucks but none of them are really that good. I'll try and get better pics of the rest of our equipment some time.
