F.D.N.Y. - anesti - 10-26-2006 and there upgraded numberning and new caps on the wheel and a shiny coat anyway pretty neat F.D.N.Y. - rockygene - 10-27-2006
FDNY Purple K I came across these today at the 75th anniversary celebration of Flod Bennet Field, NYC's firist municipal airport. Engines 228 and 229 have these as second pieces. There are four more in the fleet awaiting company assignment.
The new Purple K units went to....E33, E84, E163, and E326?........ F.D.N.Y. - bigjim - 10-27-2006 That's not a "Q". Maybe a Federal CG model? F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-27-2006
These nozzles are only about a year old. Any other pics of 229 and the purple K rig. They're the engine in my house and I was also wondering if you'd mind if I copied this onto my comp to brig to the FH. I promise to only make fun of the little guy sitting in a booster seat to drive the purple K rig. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Here are two pix of E 229 followed by a shot of both from the rear - No objections at all to your using them. Phil, Bklyn. F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-27-2006 I got to chat with the little guy driving the Purple K rig but that was just as they were going 10-8 *(in service available for a run) so engines were starting and they were leaving. Here a fuller side view (Properly posed and sunlit) of E229 Phil, Bklyn F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-27-2006 And here's the last of this series - the backs of purple k and E229. I have to dig up the sunshade for the lens to get rid of the 'flare and glare' when shooting into the sun. Phil, Bklyn. F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-28-2006 Ladder 24 responding at night. Time exposure. 1.3 seconds. Phil Bklyn. F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-28-2006 It was an 'class 3' alarm from a sprinkler system. Must be a repeated 'offense' cause the response was a single engine, truck and chief. It was around the corner from where I was going so I got to do some more 'reflective stripe photography'. F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-28-2006 Here's the back of Ladder Co 24 at night. F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-28-2006 These companies are first due at the Empire State Building. The front of Engine 1 carries this illuminated ESB model adorned with King Kong. Note the red white and blue lights inside the model. F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-28-2006
Ladder 3 Taking Up
Here's the front of Ladder 3. Cpl Bambury has just returned from duty in Iraq! I was chatting with FF Moran who lost his Bn chief brother in the 9-11 incident and was part of the Madison Square Garden rally for FDNY later in the fall of 2001. That's where he said, "OSB, you can kiss my royal Irish ***!" He said they take out the windows on the truck in the summer time and don't put them back in until it's really cold because they get so much heat from the engine and their runs are mostly close by. This goes back to a post by Ben on Oct 1 of this year. (See the red arrow at the top of this post.) F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 10-28-2006 This should be in Everything Else but it ties into the front of Ladder 3. F.D.N.Y. - R1SmokeEater - 10-28-2006 Yes, that's true (and not new) many of the companies remove the window for the "Summer"- This has been going on for a long time, including the Mack pumpers -Also, there is some more audio of The War Years up- Tom's site crashed, and he's rebuilding. I submitted clips 2 &3 with more to come.
