Yes, it's Mass. General Laws, Chapter 90 Section 7E. The only people that ever really enforced it was the Registry Police, and since the assimilation of MDC, Capitol and Registry Police Departments by the State Police, no one really enforces it unless you REALLY piss off a trooper.
The fact that TL17 needs $35,000 worth of body repairs may have played a small role as well. In that area, they hit everything but the Lottery in it! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' />
What the heck were they doing with it to accumulate that much damage???? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_crazy' />

Trying to make the corners in their first alarm response area. That piece should have NEVER been assigned there and Commissioner Fraser will be rectifying that sooner rather then later.

Engine 29 is in service as of this afternoon. I drove by there this afternoon around 1400hrs and the guys were washing it. Looks GREAT! The crosslays are covered, the mirrors don't stick out as much as I assumed from the photograph & it's just that much better then their old 1991 model.

I have never been to Boston, but it seems to me that E\-One, Pierce or sombdy needs to design a HD Ladder on a short chassis for our older cities. Or go back to TDA's. These giant tandem laddrs and towers are ok where they have wide streets but in older cities they seem too much width and length for the streets.

Boston Fire Department - edburke - 04-25-2007

I managed to get by the station this morning and get a shot of Engine 29, now in service.

Boston Fire Department - SOlsonBFDL14 - 04-28-2007

Now you can go and get the new Rescue 1 as well. I was working on the ambulance this morning when I heard sirens headed up Kneeland Street in Chinatown. I look out the 7th floor window and what do I see but the brand new Pierce Quantum Rescue 1 and the Division 1 Deputy headed towards District 4.

Rescue 1's new rig didn't have long before it was put to the test with a nasty fire on the Longfellow Bridge last night...

Did they move the Fire Brigade to Moon Island? They had always been located in their own station on Long Island, across the bridge from Moon Island. Are they using the titles of "Engine 54 and Ladder 31" again?

I got the chance to see it being refueled after the fire, they have to back the rig in onto the apron because if they go in forward the fuel hose barely reaches...quite a sight in person, the EMS guys at the fire were almost drooling over it <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' />

Engine 54 no longer exists, it is officially the Fire Brigade, and is stationed with Ladder 31, which is not staffed, at the station on Long Island on the property of the Long Island Hospital, which is now pretty much homeless shelters, drug rehabs and other various "hug the homeless" programs that the Public Health Commission has come up with to waste money, but there is a significant number of buildings out there, which justifies having the rig out there. Ladder 31, a Maxim S model MMA is out there because the bridge that connects Moon Island and Long Island has severe weight restrictions on it, so if there is a fire, Ladder 6, the first due truck, goes to Moon Island, hops in a van to go over the bridge and mans ladder 31.

As far as the brush trucks go, there are a few thousand acres of woods in the Stony Brook Reservation, and Engines 48 and 55 are on opposite sides, which makes for easiest access.

Thanks for the confirmation. When I first started to apark in Boston, there was no bridge. Engine 54 had a new (1948 vintage) Ward and I think that Ladder 31 had an early 30s city service. They had been delivered to the island by a barge. The firefighters worked 48 hours straight, then had five days off because the had to take a ferry from downtown.
