Wow!

I don't really know what else to say about that

Can someone give me a history lesson on the spartan/scope for TL53?  This is my first time seeing this combo at FDNY.

F.D.N.Y. - B95MACKFIRE - 09-17-2013

Only one, it's a 9/11 thing. FDNY got rigs from were ever they could an rebuilt any thing they could to get back in shape.

Such a waste some little dept could really use this

Because that TL53 is on City Island - is it being scrapped due to Sandy related damage to the rig?

No it was out for auction and the scrap yard was the highest bidder.

It was a rebuilt/remount demo sitting at Baker when 9/11 happend. The rig was an emergency purchase by the FDNY and headed north from Richmond on 9/12 or the 13th with a few other FDNY Scopes with a police escort all the way to NYC.

Anything special about the cargo area in the back, like equipment storage, boarding ladder / steps, seating, etc or is it just an open bed cargo area?

Thanks,

Gary

Great Photo! Is this a first of a kind of unit for the FDNY? Are there anymore of these in service?

There is a boarding ladder that leads up to the cargo area.  There is a bench seat on either side of the truck.     Saw 2 of these rigs out at the shops a few weeks ago when we had to drop our rig off and pick up a spare.   If I remember correctly, the guy at the shops said there was going to be 2 of these rigs per Boro.

I assume (and could be wrong) this is an answer to transportation problems after Sandy?
