All I know is they were out on a run when the fire started. It started in the 2nd floor study and went up the pole hole to the 3rd floor. A jake said the 2nd and 3rd floors is totally incinerated.

Neighbors reported seeing fire rolling across the ceiling and called 911.

Don't believe a cause has been determined, but they were leaning towards electrical. Perhaps Marc or one of the other FDNY guys here can correct me if I'm wrong.

This might come off sounding funny, but I think it's a good thing the crews were out of the building. Someone could have gotten hurt. Thanks goodness it didn't happen while the members were sleeping.

It looks like there is a piece of equipment in the bay like they are still in service ?

At this point a cause has not been determined, so i'm not going to speculate. I was working the night of the fire and was listening to the scanner in the firehouse when I heard 37 Engine give an URGENT message, then a 10-75 signal for "The quarters of Engine 80". They had heavy fire on arrival. Fire went to a 2nd Alarm and yes, the entire 2nd and 3rd floors were gutted. Another FDNY member sent me a cell phone pic of 80/23's bunkroom, and it is completely gutted. I was gonna post it, but I don't think that it would be appropriate.

Engine 80 is currently in with Engine 69 Ladder 28, Batt. 16, and Ladder 23 is currently in with Engine 37 Ladder 40.

Station is located at 503 West 139th St in Harlem. We had been planning since the begining of Novemver to make a trip down to the city the Saturday after thanksgiving. The fire was the friday after thanksgiving. A friend of ours wanted a pic of house. When we got down Saturday am we saw apparatus still at the house as we approached. After walking up to the house we saw companies still operating a line inside. I recall the Engine still being inside, but I don't remember if the Truck was in also.

Sorry Maggio, I answered the wrong question. I don't recall exactly where, but I think it was Washington Street South of the Cross Bronx.

I don't recall the exact location of the new Rescue 3, but I think it was Washington Street South of the Cross Bronx. I know someone else can elaborate. I do know they are next to an FDNY EMS garage.

Well since it has been built on the site of 201s former quarters, I think it would remain the same, 5113 4th ave, Sunset Park, Bklyn.

With all due respect CrossBronx, and I am not trying to be a smart ass or start a sh-t storm here but why would it be inappropriate to post any pictures of this station fire. Or any fire station fire or for that matter emergency vehicle accidents. It just seems to me that with thousands of photos on here of fires involving the homes and businesses of private citizens that we as fire service people should not be exempt. If anything these kind of photos may remind us all in the emergency services that we are NOT invulnerable when it comes to the same misfortunes that citizens suffer. Food for thought.

Nick,

I know fellow Firepixers who are on MY job may not appreciate the pics of a burned out FDNY house on the internet for everyone to see. Especially the "bunkroom". I don't know about you, but I don't go around telling the public that we even have a bunkroom. I understand that this is a "Fire-related" website, but it is in cyberspace and it is possible for the public to come across these pics.

Just my 2 cents.

Marc

I would think of it as any one of our own homes. I wouldn't want to find pics of my bedroom, living room, what have you, if it had been damaged by a fire. Thats just a bit too personal in my opinon. Once something is on the internet who knows where it will end up.
