Lexington bought some more Horton's in 2004 with the newer International cab.

Ambulances - Guest - 04-01-2007

The newest pieces to Lexington are these 2006 Braun-Freightliners. The cabs were bought extended because the fire department runs three man crews on their EC units. To me, the freightliners appear faster than the internationals and they don't bog down in places where the older units did.

Again, the trend in Central KY. Both departments are in the Lexington-bluegrass metro area.

This is the truck i usually ride on at work, until i start with AMR. Our entire fleet consists of Wheeled coach crusaders.

I believe this used to be a Jefferson County EMS unit before the city-county merger. It's also been rumored that AMR is looking to take over EMS in Louisville. I say whatever.[/quote]

you are right it used to be jefferson county ems and then they merged. there were a number of trucks remounted and painted with the new scheme and they did order a fleet of new trucks too. they buy all lifeline ambulances and get them remounted at lifeline too. they are hard on their rigs. the slant sides are from the county and are streamliners and the new trucks are full sized modulars.

For those of you out there, have you any complaints on the Chevrolet chassis Type II or III, I worked out of one in my long EMS career and I absolutley hated it. It rode rougher that any other rig I have ever been in. Just curious as to your opinions since the company I am currently working with is looking to purchase a couple new ambulances but we have also considered the Sprinter chassis as well.

Found this off Ebay(maybe). Credit to the photographer. It was built by a place out of LA.

the company that i work for is buying 8 new buses, andthey wanted ford, they ended up going with 3 different manufacturers, demers, wheeled coach, and aev, so i dont know where to look anymore, but i can tell you i have been inside a sprinter and if you satellite you trucks the crews will bevery uncomfortable and there is only a few inches inbetween the squad bench and the strecher, as far as i'm concerned the only thing good about the sprinter is the mercedes diesel engine

I don't make it a habit to shoot pics of ambulances but once in awhile I will shoot some that catch my eye.

First up are a couple from the local EMS Station. I drive there once in awhile to help out.

Ambulance 296 is a Ford F450/Horton

Ambulances - Guest - 04-03-2007

Mechanicsville Ambulance 295 is an International/Horton. They recently placed Ambulance 299 in service, which is basically a twin with a couple minor changes.
