Well, nobody's posted anything from the big California trip a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd post this rare treat. From Orange Cove, CA is Patrol 66, a 1942 Burma Jeep 200/500. Never seen one of these before.Mark Carr photo

Palm Beach County, FL recently took delivery of 5 2009 International/Horton rescue rigs. They differ from the previous version only slightly, most noticbly that these rigs have red, instead of white, roofs on the cab. And one rig, Rescue 45-Bravo was ordered as a 2-door rig due to space limitations in the fire station. Rescue 23's stripes are lower than the rest, an attempt to make them look a bit better and to make them more reflective in headlights. The new rigs are headed to Rescues 23, 21, 36 and 45. The last one hasn't been assigned yet. Here's the first one, Rescue 21.

Here's Rescue 23 with the lower stripes. I think it looks much better this way.

And the only 2-door rescue rig ordered since 2000 is this one for Rescue 45-Bravo. I think this is the best looking of them all.

I'm sure Alex will post the others on his link that we shot today but I did get one more little booger on the way home. It's a 2001 Ford Excursion used by the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Volunteer Division to haul their Bobcat and trailer and their Flood Response trailer. It was formerly owned by Belle Glade Fire Dept. who we took over a couple of years ago.

Mark,

I've got some pics of PBCFR Station 57 from 2002. Can I post them in this thread or would they be better off in another thread?

Thanks!

Moosup (CT) has one of these, and yes thiers is still in service. These odd-looking rigs will out perform any other 4X4 out there.

Yesterday, my last day in the great state of Florida, Alex and I stood around for hours waiting for the opportunity to take Palm Beach County Fire Rescue's newest toy out for a ride and some photos. After everyone got done climbing and drooling all over it, the fleet manager told me to take it wherever I wanted and get my pictures. We loaded up and took it for a spin. Nice truck! It's the first Sutphen the department has ever purchased. It has a Monarch cab/chassis and the cheaper model body (can't remember the name). Has a 1500 gpm Hale pump, a first for us, a 750 gallon tank, and 20 gallon foam cell. The one in the photo is the first of 4, with one coming in later having a 1000 GWT. They are to be assigned to Engines 33, 53, 54 and the 1000 gallon rig will go to Engine 74 in Southbay. This one is Sutphen number HS-4678. We had to stand around and wait for the sun to peak out and had to settle for a site with power lines but better photos will come once the rigs get accepted and numbered.

Wow that is really sharp!!

Mark Carr Photos - Ladder 68 - 10-31-2009

ALways have found the Sutphen rigs to be sharp. No exception here...good looking without going overboard on warning lights and graphics.

What company is getting this one?

Mark Carr Photos - GA_Dave - 10-31-2009

Congratulations, you old fart! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' />

Let me know when you're back up in Blairsville.

Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 10-31-2009

I don't know which station is getting this particular engine. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess Engine 33. Thanks for the congrats, Dave. I'm now in Blairsville. Oh, we need to get together and go to the airport and shoot their new platform. I saw it headed south on 75 this morning south of Henry County somewhere.

It was probably on the way to the Ten-8 shop in Forsyth. There are two of those being delivered. I'll find out when they are supposed to go in service and let you know.
