State Of Conneticut - hoss - 01-31-2008 Winchester's Kubota is pretty neat too, they set it with 2 modular skid units one for rescue and one for wildland fire. They had the rescue one installed, according to the officer who brought over for the demo, 2 FFs can swap out the units quickly as they have them mounted off the ceiling in the station. State Of Conneticut - hoss - 01-31-2008 Maybe it was because it was "set up" but I liked the Kabouta a little better. Lots more of the guys tooling around with both ATVs are on my website. The large stone building in the background of most of the shots is the Armory, and in front of the rigs was the legislative building. The Fire Service Day held so the Fire Service and the state law makers can get on the same page (that's the theory as I understand it). I was there with a slide show of shots that the members of the CT Fire Photographers had put together for the event. Not being a big hand shaker/elbow rubbing kinda guy, I went to to check out the rigs on display and I am glad I did. Most of them I had shot before, but they were there and so was I armed with my camera. Nobody stopped me for taking photos (lots of capitol pd were around) so what the heck. I was out there twice, once at 10:30 and again around noon and the sun came out just a enough to help me out. By the time I walked to the parking garage and was leaving it was pouring, and on the ride home I drove through near whiteout conditions. Go figure. If I hadn't been awake for almost 36 hours I might have hung around a little longer. Of course that would have meant I would have been around for the "Red Plan" activation for the haz mat at the governor's office. Something to do with a letter and a foul odor making people sick. I am not the biggest fan of that glow worm she-at.
