I think you mean Cedar Grove (Essex County), not Cedar Knolls (Morris County). Many people make the same mistake. Cedar Grove has a North End Fire Co #2 and until the 70s ran with white apparatus, many of which were Macks.

Did the N.J Fire Academy ever run a 1954 Oran. My Dept. had one and was told it went to N.J. F A. It was a 750 pump Oren. It came from Syosset N.Y Long Island.

If this is true can some tell me if it's still around?

Thanks

Kevin

I believe that would be the Borough of Cedar Grove in Essex County which does have a North End Fire Co.

Cedar Knolls is a fire district of the Township of Hanover in Morris County.

You are not the only one to get the two confused.

The Garfield boys who took this truck to parades for two things. First, they played Polka music through a loud speaker as their city has had a very active Polish community for a long time. Second, they would take the tractor down one side of a road with the tiller on the opposite side frequently swapping back and forth.

In 1974 at a parade in West Milford NJ we from Butler were marching ahead of them with their polkas drowing out the Bloomingdale Cornet Band which we had paid $300 to lead us. Yes that was the average band price for a parade then, not the $1000 minimum that is normal today in our area. Somehow the driver and tillerman got the truck wedged beween two stone walls as the road narrowed. When we got to the field, it was a long time before any of the other companies arrived. Since we had been near the beginning of the line up, those of who were there first had an easy time getting the burgers, dawgs, beer and soda. I felt bad for everyone behind us including the Garfield guys.

I think that truck was sold to a Sussex County NJ fire company about 20 years ago.
