Kansas - southwheatland514 - 10-09-2012 Looks Good! I agree that some stations should have squads, but not necessarily all should have them. Open up one or two additional truck companies. I also like that they are planning to stick with Towers for their truck companies so far. Kansas - Athomas5784 - 11-26-2012 Was up in Atchison, KS for Thanksgiving and shot a quick photo of their 2011 KME Predator. 2011 KME Predator 1250/750 Serial #: UNK Kansas - jlg1875 - 11-26-2012 Could you post one of Lawrence's new hazmat/engine? Thanks! Kansas - MFD76 - 11-30-2012 Here she is in all of her mutilfunctional glory. This unit was purchased to replace Haz-Mat 4 and Quint 4. It is a Pierce PUC walk around heavy rescue. Special Note: This unit does NOT have an on board Class B foam system, roof, or bumper turret for AFFF foam application. It however does have a Class A/ CAFS system. Lawrence, Kansas Fire Department Engine 4 (Haz-Mat Unit) 09/2012 #25394 Pierce Velocity PUC 1500/470/30FA-CAFS Rear Hose Bed is in the upper left compartment. Rear hose bed door open. Note the door is NOT notched to allow LDH to be hung lower. From ground to hose bed bottom is 8ft and 6ft standing on tail board. Lawrence FIre Department now operates two engines, three 75ft quints, one 100ft tower-quint, one heavy rescue, six ambulances, and one shift commander from five fire houses and one standalone ambulance station. There will soon be one more 100ft tower-quint and one 75ft quint ordered. Kansas - Guest - 12-19-2012 Some old slides of a Pratt County Rescue, not sure where or when these were taken. Here is their current truck Kansas - jshippey - 01-09-2013 What will happen to the current Quint 4 in Lawrence? Kansas - MFD76 - 01-09-2013
What will happen to the current Quint 4 in Lawrence?
It was reassigned to Quint 3 and the first new red fire apparatus the 2006 Pierce Lance 75ft Quint 3 ex Quint 1 was assigned to Reserve. They are currently ordering a new Quint for Quint 3 that will put one of the twin 2009 Quints in reserve. Also a new Tower Ladder for Truck 5. The current Quint 3 will go to reserve and the current Tower Truck 5 will go to reserve. I would imagine both the 1995 Spartan Smeal and 1996 HME Smeal quints will be disposed of and the reserve ladder 2002 HME Smeal dry 100ft Ladder will be disposed of. I am sad to see the three Smeal's go as they are very well designed and great machines. This would leave the 2000 ALF Engine and 2004 Tender as the last green fire apparatus. Kansas - jshippey - 01-10-2013 Thanks Rick. Sounds llke they will have some very nice reserve units Kansas - Athomas5784 - 03-16-2013 Wichita Fire Department purchased new Battalion Chief trucks.
