Carr - 12-17-2009 I snuck away from the nursing home today and regained some of my independance. I ventured to Murray County, GA and shot Engine 5, a 2008 International/HME 1250/750 pumper. Mark Carr photo Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 12-17-2009 Then I ventured to Calhoun, GA and shot Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga, TN's Life Force 3 helicopter. It's a 1987 Bell 407, tail #N407ER. I was really surprised when a former co-worker from Palm Beach County got out of the helicopter. Seems he's working there now as a flight nurse/paramedic. Small world I guess. Mark Carr Photos - GA_Dave - 12-18-2009 Quote: And was I near Rome or Cartersville? We've GOT to get you a map of Georgia!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 12-30-2009 Well, I've been out and about again, either chasing scenes with helicopters on them or shooting fire apparatus. So, first up are two new helicopters, first for Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. It's a 2008 Eurocopter EC-135 P2, tail #N405EH, photographed at the Copper Basin Hospital in Ducktown, TN. Mark Carr photo Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 12-30-2009 Next up, from the same accident, but photographed about 15 miles away at another landing zone, is University of Tennessee Medical Center's new 2009 Eurocopter EC-135 P2, tail #N135UT. (Yes, I can drive really fast between landing zones) Mark Carr photo Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 12-30-2009 Today, I ventured back down to Gilmer County, GA Fire-Rescue where I found an old engine in the bay that I hadn't seen before. Turns out it had just come back from a refurb. job. It's a 1976 American LaFrance Century 1500/500 pumper. It had no GSO#'s that I could easily locate but the dude I talked to thought it was original to Gilmer County. Mark Carr photo Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 12-30-2009 Since the rest of the Gilmer County shots I already had were shot under cloudy, rainy skies, I reshot a few. First is Squad 14, a 2006 Ford F550/Pierce Contender 750/300 #7122TR #63711871 Mark Carr photo Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 12-30-2009 Gilmer County Tanker 1 is a 2008 Kenworth-Midwest 3000 GWT #1971. Mark Carr photo Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 12-30-2009 Last for today is Gilmer County's new Engine 1, a 2009 Ferrara Intruder II 1250/1000 Pumper #H4239. Gilmer actually only had 2 Class A engines up until a few years ago and they were both commercial cabs. Before that they used "fire knockers" from GA Forestry. Mark Carr Photos - Mark V.
Hey Scooby, I was just thinking about you the other day. We oughta go out shooting again one day. Anyway, thanks for the information. While I got you, do you have any idea what the engine is at the Cherry Log station? One guy told me it was another old LaFrance and another guy told me it was an old Mack. Also, do you know what the old ladder truck is that they currently have out for a refurb? Thanks! Mark
I can't give you any other information. When I lived in Fannin they had no ladder and the Cherry Log station had a knocker in it until the mid to late 90's. At that time, only Ellijay FD had an aerial, and it was a POS. I know Ellijay bought one of our old 1984 Sutphen platforms. Someone mentioned a few months ago that Gilmer had it, not sure. I'd love to go shoot some more trucks some time. |
