While looking through my collections today, I found this truck that I thought some would enjoy. There was nothing written on the back, so any info would be a big help.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I have been trying to find pics of Howard County apparatus, but they seem to not have a thread dedicated to them, or much on thier website. Any recommendations? I was hoping to see the current apparatus from around the counties in MD.

Check out Hungrybuses thread, Kevin has done much in recent months in Howard, esp. the numerous Pierce deliveries.

One of the 40 or so rigs built by the F. L. Anderson Company in Baltimore during the 1940's to 1960's was this large enclosed 4 door pumper for Jessup in Anne Arundel County. The small pump is almost lost mounted just above the bumper. The full width custom built body had full height side compartment doors on the officers side with a rear opening door for the hard sleeves on the drivers side as well as a partialy enclosed overhaead ladder rack. There was no rear step as everyone rode inside, a feature that was not standard in the fire service for another 50 years. The chrome box on top of the Federal Signal siren was a motor to ocilate the light back and forth. This photo was taken during delivery in February 1941. The next month in late March, the rig collided with a oil tank truck and burned never to be rebuilt. No one was seriously hurt, owing no doubt to the enclosed cab. This is one of many old photos recently given to me by the owner of F. L. Anderson Company.

RFC still owns this unit. It needs some TLC but it is at their Lloyds station.
