Fairfax County VA - stokess - 06-17-2009 E432 should be Pierce number 21399 - we referenced it enough when we were laying our PUC out that I couldn't tell you our number without looking it up but I know 21399........ <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Fairfax County VA - Guest - 06-17-2009 So R421 is temp OOS? Your new PUC delivery should be right around the corner right? I have been looking forward to seeing it. The friends I stay with when I am in town live down in 430's first due so I get up past 413 all the time, I will make sure to stop in when I am back in October to shoot it. Don't look it up special but if you can send me the job number on your new ride when you think of it I would greatly appreciate it. Fairfax County VA - stokess - 06-17-2009 The PUC is 21883, fleet V-135 (070135). We expect it in the Commonwealth sometime around Labor Day - how long it spends at Singer and how long it spends at West Ox before it comes home who knows. The sooner the better, I doubt its in service by open house but I want to get it brought in for that weekend at least so the public can see it. Fairfax County VA - Guest - 06-17-2009 Is the new county rescue temporarily replacing R421? That rig is not very old. Any info fellas? BBR - Last time I saw Rescue Company 21 they were rolling with the E\-One Rescue (County reserve) and the old Hazmat support vehicle (34) as a 2-piece Rescue Company. Apparently the E\-One couldn't adequately carry all of their equipment/tech rescue gear. Peace Nate I also heard that Rescue 26 might be receiving the new Rescue and their current rig will possibly be filtered into the reserve fleet. Again, not fact. Simply what I heard. Yes it's not odd anymore to see old support 34 over at 21. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Hopefully someone from 21 can shed some light on this. Around August '87 Trk-15 was transferred to Fair Oaks after the '63 Maxim was put to out to pasture (Trk-15) and replaced by V-579. The truck on warm sunny days would stay at Chan-hillbilly and and "sleep" at 21 at night until the offocial transfer came through. Ladder services at Fair Oaks were terminated when 15's new station was completed and was later moved to Centreville when 38 was built. Paul Fairfax County VA - Truckman - 06-17-2009
I assume Singer, since it's been in their parking lot for quite some time now, along with the other E-Ones I posted. Like I said, the single axle Truck was loaned out to Dale City while their Pierce Tower Ladder was getting serviced last year. Perhaps they keep 'em around as loaner rigs when a Pierce unit needs work. Hope that helps Steve. Nate
Singer owns several trucks > engines, aerials, > that they have bought and used as spares when they have a front line in for repairs or as loaners Fairfax County VA - FfxCo21V - 06-17-2009
What happened to Rescue 21? The two piece "Rescue Task Force" using the old haz mat beer truck won't happen again because that unit is no longer in the county. No talk of a new rig to serve a R421. It's sad to see, as I for one thought Rescue 21 was a good rig considering the operational needs of that company. At least ex-Rescue 18 is the right size rig to temporarily fill the slot IMO. The Marion is a good rig and certianly big enough, however, fire apparatus, no matter how well maintained have problems. You said you live in our first due. Are you a vol in Ffx? Bruce
I volunteer in Prince William County. I use to hang out at 21 when I was kid back in the early to mid 80's. Use to see the old American Lafrance at the old fashioned fireman's competition at FS 3 every year. Good times. Fairfax County VA - Guest - 06-19-2009 What was going on that 422 was filling in at 425? Thats a haul, ain't it? Fairfax County VA - Guest - 06-19-2009 There were MUD drills going on that day. The first rotation was in the fourth battalion and the second rotation was in the first battalion. While we were at FS408 T410 and M410 were filling in with us and then we filled in at FS425 with M425, T425 and R421. Hope this helps. |
