I would have gotten all three that day I was there, but one was in the shop! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bitch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

This 1974 WLF Ambassador 1000/500 went from RFC to the nearby Lloyds VFD, today Lloyds VFD is considered an RFC substation. Perhaps CAPTFBFD could explain that arrangement.

This ex-RFC 1968 ALF 900 Series went to PGFD about 1988 and served as RE5 until at least 1995.

That's it for the oldies, I do have the newer RFC rigs if interested.

In short they used to have a rookie engine. So this engine would usually respond 2nd on all calls with junior members. On structure fires their responsibility was Salvage. There would be a "Senior Capt" assigned to train the new guys. RFC has since moved from this and just assigns folks to different engines.

I would love to see all of your RFC pictures. I am still an Honorary Member there. Born and raised in Cambridge and my Dad was a volly there for 20+ years. The Navy moved me away back in 96. My best friend growing up is one of the Chiefs now.

This unit was known as the "Queen Mary" and had the unit number 401. At the time Engines started with a 3, trucks/rescues started with a 4.

401 originally had a gas engine and it was refurbed with a Detroit in the early 80's. I swear you could hear the Detroit over the Q.

My favorite Engine off all time!

Llodys VFD has some serious money and legal issues several years ago and the station and all apparatus was placed up for auction. RFC was the bid and now control the station. I am not sure of the exact details. RFC's old Engine 302 (79 Seagrave) is the one in service engine at the Llodys station. I hope they refurb the WLF. I would love to purchase that engine.

So the Seagrave Tractor Trailer Tanker and a brush unit are still out at Lloyds and run by cambridge?

I am not sure if the Brush unit is still in service. I sent an email to ask about the status of the Lloyds station but they did have the tanker and Engine inservice that last time I checked.
