I'm sad to report that the Forestville Fire Company had a major fire at thier station over the weekend. The only truck they were able to save was the 86 Hahn. The 33 and 72 Hahns were lost as was thier building and gear. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

I just saw the news story from the fire.... I have never wanted to throw up so badly in my entire life. The Ford looks bad and is a real damn shame... but the 31/32/33 Hahn is the worst.... I could have cried when I saw it. Such a shame... and that department is a hurting department too.... If anyone is interested in donating here is the information for that (I am in no way affiliated with the department but I found this information on another board):

A real damn shame.... a real damn shame.

Dave,

I have to agree with you. I just watched the news video myself, is such a damn shame to see to pieces of fire company history, and pride in shambles. I hope that the brotherhood of volunteers in this state and others will reach out and help.

Well, it is nice to see the rigs of my hometown, I wish I would have known so i could have got you to all 5 atations. The 1970 Mack has been replaced on September 11th of this year by a 2008 Pierce Impel, a beautiful rig. This same rig was replaced on September 11th 2001. The Mack will become Engine 6, the second engine out of Station #1. It is currently at the body shop having some work done on the cab. Can't wait to get it back. Engine #5 has a twin at Ebgine #4. Service 5 was ex Slippery Rock and is not a Kenco. It may be a J.B. Rescue. I will find out. Service 2 is actually a second heavy rescue in our city. It is an ex-Deptford N.J. rescue. Just wish the rest could have been photographed. Alot of variety. The 60's & 70's saw Mack & American LaFrance ad the majority rigs in the city. Great shots Pat. When you come back this way, get a hold of me. I'll take you around.

I don't believe it is. This engine was actually in East Vandergrift. It was Westmoreland County Station 72. It was merged with Vandergrift #1, Station 51 and the engine housed @ Vandergrift #1. It was recently donated.

You are right it is 110'. Not long after they received it, it came in contact with wires and burnt the tires. It does work alot. A great bunch of firefighters in Vandergrift.

The Smeal ladder replaced an American LaFrance 700 series that was refurbed by American LaFrance on Neville Island in the 80's. It was given a Century 1000 cab, diesel engine and automatic tranny. The engine blew on the Lafrance before the Smeal was delivered. Last I heard, it was still in the borough. Unknown what they are going to do with it. Kittaning also had a Jox. It is still sitting in a field outside ofKittaning rusting away.

Also, Logans Ferry Heights. Plum is switching to all white. They did this since Unity took delivery of their new tower. Holiday Park just took delivery of a 105' rear mount quint. It too is painted white.
