Thats a nice looking truck. Is the red that shiny deep or is it a photoshop effect? If its that nice in person I want an equivalant green on my unit.

Texas Emergency Medical Servies - nealcraig - 01-16-2011

Not photoshop. Wet sanded and polished. Good looking rig

2011 Ford F-450/Wheeled Coach. One of several delivered.

Featuring Wheeled Coach's new "Cool Bar", which intergrates emergency lighting with the front mounted A/C unit. Also features air-ride suspension.

Texas Emergency Medical Servies - nealcraig - 02-23-2011

I have to say the "Cool Bar" is a good idea. Just to be clear air intake under the bottom correct? Also the TIR near the front fender is a good idea as with the 2011 the front fender wall is not accessable due to design change. The 2011 Ford we have done we put on fender flare and IMHO the light "sticking" out is something else to get knocked off. Kudos to WC.

Yes. There is in air intake at the bottom of the bar. There is also a radiator on the drivers side of the ambulance to help exhaust heat.

Here's a close up of a prototype Cool Bar I took at the Firehouse Expo in Dallas this past September..

Thanks a bunch for the close up.

Texas Emergency Medical Servies - A/TCEMSPM - 03-13-2011

Grabbed a quick phone shot of my new ride at work. In service thursday 3/10. 2011 F450 Super Duty/ Wheeled Coach. This batch has the new power plant of the 6.7L diesel so hopefully we will have less problems with these than we did with the 6.4 in our 2 '10 models. Duplicate units went in service at Medic 1, 4, and 29. Their current units went to outlying stations or to peak load units.

Texas Emergency Medical Servies - TacSupport1 - 03-13-2011

ACTEMSPM, thanks for the photos and info!

Do the new F-450's have solar panels as well?

Saw one at the radio shop the other day with the coolbar...can't wait to get a shot. Are there any other major differences, and any chance there will be a switch back to International Navistar chasis?

Good Luck with it! My fire department is just starting to draw up specs for a new rig, but we have space issues in our house that dictate we have to use a van chassis. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

Seth,

I don't think we will ever see internationalsback in Austin. We will be receiving a total of 11 F450s this year. Based on some of the shapes up top of the module I am assuming they have the solar panels. I haven't been up to look. Not much changed otherwise. The module is laid out about the same as M6 and M20.

For 2011,ATCEMS took delivery of 11 (correct me if I'm wrong) Ford F-550/4x4 Wheeled Coach Customs delivered, with air ride suspension that lowers to load the patient, the new Wheeled Coach "Coolbar" AC module above the cab, and solar panels on the roof for auxillary power and reduce idling, amongst other things.

Seth,

Those new Austin-Travis County units are F450s and not 4x4 to my knowledge...nice shot by the way!

are those siren speakers recessed in the bumper for a total of 4?

Texas Emergency Medical Servies - nealcraig - 05-20-2011

Yes those are Cast products speakers in the edge of the bumper with Wheeled Coach logo

Texas Emergency Medical Servies - A/TCEMSPM - 05-22-2011

Yes we received 11 F-450s this year. They are not 4wd and yes we have a total of 4 speakers 2 on the deer killer and two in the bumper. We run dual siren with an electronic whelen xecutor siren as well as the air horns.
