It was the old RESCUE 5. I think that the 2001 Mack MR/Saulsbury is around still also. I think you will see that the city wants a Haz Mat in each Boro. BUT no $ to do that. So the rigs are spares until $ can be funded.

i had read that there was in intrest from members to do this

The '96 HME/Saulsbury rigs for Rescue Co. 3 and 4 went to reserve for the Rescue Co.'s. The rig that Rescue Co. 5 had went to Haz Mat Co. 01 as a reserve. The rigs at Rescue Co.'s 1 and 2 were lost on 9/11.

Doing comparisons on Mike Martinelli's site, it's Rescue 3, if you look at all of the HME's it's the only one with white on the door patch, and the angles in the rear box patch are unmistakeable.
And, as mentioned above, RIP to all of the members lost on 9/11. This company carried what I consider to be the saddest story of that day. Captain Brian Hickey, detailed from Rescue 4 was doing his first shift back from taking time off after the Father's Day fire that took two of his crew on that day. Bob Mitts had introduced me to him a few years prior, and he was definitely an outgoing and friendly guy as far as buffs were concerned. Bob told me that he had spoken with him just before he came back, and it had been a very difficult decision to return or to put in his papers. His love of the job brought him back to work, and he showed his dedication to the citizens of NYC without question on that day.

100% RESCUE 3. I knew Capt. Brian Hickey since 1990. He was a FF in R4 when we met. We staied in contact when I went in the USAF in 1992. He gave me my copy of BROTHERS IN BATTLE. He was promoted to Lieut and went to L126. Then made Capt and went back to R4. He lost 2 men at the Fathers Day Fire. He went on ML to think and his FIRST tour back was Covering at R3. As we all know now, he would never return from Box 5-5-8087.
Rescue 4 has had its bad days since 1992. Lt Tommy Williams (RIP- from and Arson Fire 2/25/92) who I used to do most of my ride a longs with, Capt Tommy McTigue badly burned in a steam pipe explosion (This is the basis for the scene in LADDER 49), FF Pete McLaughin (10-8-95)... Some members felt there was a curse or something and got out of the company.
To ALL who were lost 9-11 RIP Brothers! We will NEVER FORGET!!!

Eng 330 Thawing unit. They've been out every day this week starting with the 6 alarm fire in the Rockaways. Here they're at a three alarm in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. FDNY Field Comm going home. These units are liaison between the fire scene and the dispatchers office. Progress reports are solicited from them. There relay the chief's activity report - how many lines stretched/in operation, truck companies activities regarding opening up, primary and secondary searches, condition of the fire - 'doubtful will hold', 'probably will hold', 'under control', special call additional units, requests to get a salt spreader sent, request for an EMD 'bus', "mixer off" reports.

I see the Field-Com has had it's company patch removed from the rig, Due to the crackdown on "Non-PC" patches by the Dept ? (The patch had indians in it)

There are two small/meduim sized Field Comms correct? This one and the Sprinter? Then the two huge Leary Freightliners?
When are the smaller ones disptached and then when are the larger ones dispatched? Also were are they housed?
