I wonder how it ended up in Watertown.[/quote] Just a guess. This is a dead ringer for the old Byfield, MA Seagrave, and the year is right. Byfield bought a x-FDNY Seagrave from these guys around 1990 and traded their old one. As for how it got from KS to MA, who knows. I know Byfield bought it used in the 1980s, but I don't know from where. That was a Mars light model, that Chicago and other departments used for years before switching to the newer type or bar type light. Still love them and any type of "The Light From Mars"! You could then ADD color slats that would allow you to "Make" your light the color(s) you wanted. Shame they did not take off. They also had a smaller round style that most CFD Chief's gigs had. I think they ran two beacons with two flashers (One Red - One Green) and then a siren speaker on a bar. Love the older lights.... maybe bring some ideas back with LED Power?!? I looked around and found a photo of the Byfield ladder, and indeed it is a dead ringer....the lettering on the door is exact as well. Relics - Guest - 05-01-2007 That light is a MARS Aurora Borealis. Very rare. Very cool.
