Los Angeles County Fire Dept - Guest - 07-26-2009 A bit of news the Los Angeles County Fire Dept has been approved to purchase from KME 15 new engine's and 2 new tractor drawn quints expected to be deliverd in 2010, The current order of ford and dodge squads are in the process of being prepped and readied for service with there field assignments unknown at this time. Los Angeles County Fire Dept - Guest - 08-01-2009 Effective today 08/01/2009 the Los Angeles County Fire Dept placed into service Battalion 22 comprised of Station's Battalion 22 in Santa Clarita will be activated effective August 1, 2009, utilizing three existing staff battalion chief positions; one from Public Affairs, Grants, and Fire Prevention. The Grants Unit will be managed by the Homeland Security Section, and Public Affairs will become a unit and will be supervised by a fire captain. In the Department's continuing efforts to improve service to the citizens of Santa Clarita and the surrounding communities, the Department will be opening Battalion 22. On August 1, 2009, Battalion 6 will be divided creating new Battalion 22. The new Battalion Headquarters and Cardfile will be located at Fire Station 107, Battalion 22, Division III. The City of El Monte in order to close a budget deficit has informed the Los Angeles County Fire Dept that they will shut down Fire Station 167 home to Engine 167 and Squad 167.
