I believe ELI uses a Nikon D50 last I heard.

Tim is correct, I shoot with a Nikon D50, high quality lenses, all custom settings in the manual mode. I think a lot of my shots are crap, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder...



Soon to be upgrading to the Nikon D200, Nikon cameras are great, and so is their glass.

I herd FDNY orderded 69 Marauder II 2000gpm split cab pumpers, and 30 Scopes. Can anyone confirm this?

quick question on rac units do they carry like cooiling fans that spary a mist and like heaters for wintertime use?what kind of drinks do they serve isit cold and hot or just cold?

what is a 30 scope what do they look like?

I imagine the Rac units carry the mist fans, lots of water, and prolly Gatoraid type drinks.



Scopes are Aerialscopes, or Towerladders, they will be mounted on Marauder II chassies.

Here's one of the newset TL's on the job. Scrool down to the first TL. I believe the maurader II is pretty much a cab with wider doors in the rear and bigger window openings. There might be other specifics but I believe these two are the most noticable with out having to dig.

so this one i took not as good as mike's pic though is a maurduer II chassis i thought they were diffrent looking



never mind i think i confused myself but i figured it out the engines are just the ones that are going to be build on a new chasis while the tower ladders will be built on the same chasis

From what I was told, FDNY will be switching to the Marauder II chassie for everything. Engines will be single axle, and the new Towerladders will be on tandem axles. This seems to be the new direction FDNY is going in. I think Seagrave is only building Marauder II and Attacker chassies. I expect the same will go for rear mount ladders, tractor drawn ladders and anything else they order from Seagrave. The chassies will be split cab construction.

Towerladder is a boom truck with a plumbed waterway and bucket on the end of the boom. As shown in the pic's above, the turn table is mid-mount, with a huge tourque box underneath. There is a small ladder on the boom. I expect that ladder is for escape in the event the boom was stuck and the crew needed to get down.



A mid-mount platform is a mid-mount ladder truck with bucket mounted on the end of the ladder.



It does cause confussion because an FDNY TL is not really a ladder, but more of a platform or water tower.



Clear as mud eh!

an Aerialscope is basically a boom/crane structure with a platform on the end of it. The aerialscope has a small escape ladder on the boom that is to be used in emergencies only. Now a true Tower Ladder is basically a regular straight Ladder with rails on it that leads to a platform. While I was at Seagrave last summer there was talk that the union in FDNY was wanting to require the true Tower Ladder so that the firemen had a true ladder to climb/escape from. I havent heard anything else on that subject....

FDNY cabs have been fixed cabs in the past. The J Series Cab and the Commander II chassis have been the choice in the past. The Marauder and the Marauder II are available in split tilt and full tilt options which will be a big change in FDNY. As for the new Marauder II chassis it has a few major changes. The standard cab is 8 inches longer and two inches wider than the original. The windows on the doors are bigger as well as bigger doors allowing for easier access to the cab. The new Marauder II also will house the 2007 emissions engines which are all bigger and require more air flow for engine cooling. That is why the grille is so much bigger. The interior has changed as well allowing for some additional leg room. These are just some of the changes.



just my two cents worth...and by the way... I am happy to see Seagrave is still going strong in FDNY
