I drove by Station 7 and noticed this rig parked on the side of the firehouse back towards the SCBA shop. I think it is some sort of Motor Maintenance vehicle? It looked nice so i snapped a few shots.

Thats the Reserve Air Truck...

I know they received the KME engine. The Pierce Tower is still in Forsyth at the Pierce dealer. Also, two additional aerials should be arriving in Forsyth any day.

Drove by Station 23 the other day and there appeared to be a newer unit in the the right side bay....anyone know what it is? Maybe just a new engine that's being stored there?

Just a guess, but it could be new Engine 11. Maybe they decided not to just store it outside at the shops. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Doh' />

Shoe- question for you if you have the time. What is Atlanta down to in terms of numbers of engines and trucks in service per day, not including the airport. Thanks in advance.

Where are the 3 new Pierce aerials going? I know one has been at the dealer for almost 5 months.

That one is destined for Tower 11, but there is no Station 11 for it yet. Like Engine 11's new KME, I suspect it will sit for a while.

The other two are going to replace the two TDA's at the airport. They may already be in service, I haven't checked in a few weeks. Last I was over there, they were still training on them.

I believe its 30 Engines and 13 Trucks. There are an additional four Engines and two Trucks at the airport.

Does anyone know what they are going to be buying soon as far as replacements for all the Quality's. Are they still going to use tillered ladders for the city?

History of the Atlanta Fire Dept. - GA_Dave - 01-18-2010

I was told that the new Engine 11 (KME) was the pattern for all new engines. Nothing was said about the Trucks, although I would imagine that the TDA's are here to stay.

Anybody have pics of the new KME engines?

That would be "Engine". There's only one and it is not yet in service.

One of four purchased by Atlanta in 1987. They originally had 500 gallon tanks and served Engines 12, 17, 27, and 28.

Quote:I should've photographed the rear, as well; this truck had a vertical tank that resulted in a VERY low hosebed.

Then it was still a 500 gallon tank. That is the standard Atlanta design going back to 1982.
