The Montgomery County Pumper job went to Crimson Fire...........

They are working on the prototype now and and it should be delivered in November!

Then 8 Pumpers every 2 months until all 36 are done! and I have heard they were going to add

several more.

Burtonsville's new wagon at post paint inspection at Pierce on 09-17-2008. 2008 Pierce Dash, 500 gwt, 1250 GPM with CAFS.

Does anyone know anybody out at the crimson plant. I checked Crimson's web site to see if the pumpers would be on thier "In progress" page and it just show the Chassis. The one pumper has to be pretty close to being done or at least on the production line. Just wondering if anyone could get some pics. I know everything is top secret when it comes to apparatus but just looking for some pics of the new Engines in the production stages.

I am guessing that the (6) amber 64 series lights along the side of the bodies on the rescues and the pumper in the picture above are wired to some kind of directional signaling device? Is that the only time they are used?

I understand the directional light concept, but honestly don't think drivers around here pay them very much attention!! We seem to get much better results by just blocking the lanes we don't want people in or closing the road down altogether. When you do that however, directional light bars whether they be on the back or on the side are not easily seen because of the angles you have to park to protect the scene and divert the traffic flow. In the end the warning lights end up being more feel good or look what we got instead of being effective - at least those are my perceptions.

Otherwise, beautiful rigs....especially the TDA's!

Thats a SHARP rig!

Montgomery County MD - Guest - 09-21-2008

What piece is E715 going to replace? The Pierce or frieghtliner? The Burtonsville Rig looks like it has some "Workable" height hose beds.

Montgomery County MD - Brummel - 09-21-2008

The new pumper will replace the 1998 Freightliner that is running as Engine 715B. The current Engine 715 - a 2000 Pierce Dash - will become Engine 715B.

There is no Crimson pumper scheduled to be assigned to our station. I can not tell you where they will be assigned, but Station 15 is not one of those locations.

There are 36 of them..........I believe at least one is scheduled for every Station in the County..........

We already have a Crimson that has been out of service 85% of the time we have Owned it.......

Maybe the extra one will go to the academy. Perhaps if they have two to practice on, they can get the hose load right. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />
