Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 04-02-2007 Quote:Bige1998 thanks for breaking the Greater Boston monotony in this tread, nice to see some of the smaller departments beyond 128/I95... I would say that Belchertown is indeed outside the 128/I95 area. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I'll second Efin's comment - nice to see some non-city stuff also... It is my understanding that this was in preparation for a funeral procession for a retired member of their department. Car 2 is sitting behind Ladder 1, the fire alarm truck and Engine 3 were also parked nearby as well. Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 04-05-2007 I went around the block and found this sitting in a parking lot. Peabody Rescue 1, It's an 1989 I think, formerly of North Shore Ambulance. I am unsure wether it is still in use or not. Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 04-05-2007 The new Engine 7, a 2007 KME Predator 1500/750/25F. Sam might know more.[/quote] I'm only like what, 6 months late finding this one.... GB Fire District is the water company... They own all of the hydrants in the town of GB (not including the Village of Housatonic which has the Housatonic Water Co).... Prior to approx 1974, the Hope Fire Company of Great Barrington was owned and operated by the GB Fire District and protected only the fire dist... The Housatonic station (now a substation of the GBFD) was charged with protecting the rest of town.... Currently the fire dist. is located in the rear of the fire station on Castle St w/their offices upstairs... They are in the process of allocating funds to build a new building on East St, and the voters approved tonite approx $9.25Million for us to build a new firehouse on State Road (Rt 7/23) to replace our very outdated and dilapidated Castle Street Headquarters.
