Fairfax County VA - jshippey - 12-10-2009 How many E\-One pumpers are still running front line? Fairfax County VA - SrFireOfficial - 12-10-2009 Engine 409 (Mt Vernon) , Engine 415 (Chantilly) and Engine 427 (West Springfield). These were the same companies that ran the E\-One Cyclone Squrts and were replaced with the last E-Ones. I am unsure of their year but 2003-4 sticks in my head. I'll ask tomorrow at work. I understand from the rumor mill there has been an add-on to our existing order of pumper but haven't been able to pin down the number.
6, and they are all set to be replaced by Velocities in 2010, should be delivered sometime in the first quarter if I heard correct.
SrFire I believe the order is for 6, let me know if you hear about any add-ons. Fairfax County VA - jshippey - 12-10-2009 Thanks for the info! I work part-time with a couple of retired guys from Fairfax and we got on the topic of apparatus replacement. They heard that the remaining E-Ones would be replaced very soon. Fairfax County VA - SrFireOfficial - 12-11-2009 Confirmed, the order is for 6 pumpers at this time and they should be starting down the assembly line in the next 30 days or so. This order from Pierce will replace the last E-0ne's pumpers (raised roof Cyclones)at 9, 15, 27, 35, 38 and 39 and make all county-owned front-line engines Pierce. The lion's share (see county emblem) of volunteer-owned engines, ladders and rescues are Pierce also. When I was hired in 1984, E\-One had just delivered their first batch of pumpers to Fairfax County. At that time, the county was transitioning from a Seagrave dominated fleet to E\-One and now the transition is almost complete to entirely Pierce. Fairfax County VA - ur second in - 12-12-2009 so is the new hazmat 440 replacing the Spartan presently in service? That rig isn't very old and I can't imagine it is in need of replacement. Or is it going to be in addition to the present units? just wondering. Fairfax County VA - Fire28 - 12-12-2009 I believe the new unit is a replacement. Still not totally sure why their replacing a 6? year old rig.
It is not replacing the Hazmat rig but the Hazmat support rig. The current Hazmat Support rig will then be used as a reserve. I flew in last night for a party today. Saw Engine 413 today, she is nice. Would have loved to see the whole unit with rollup doors though. Didn't have a chance to stop and get pictures as I was on my way to Tysons to pick up the cake and was late. Fairfax County VA - Guest - 12-13-2009 Dave, While your in town, get some shots of one of the new Arlington engines if you get a chance. I see they are posted up on singers website.
