Also, when was the Ahrens-Fox officially taken out of service and what was that International pickup-like truck used for?
Here is the Fox at the 1989 State Convention at Latrobe. Keystone State Relics - Truckman - 03-31-2011
Here is the Fox at the 1989 State Convention at Latrobe.
Was this A-F originial to Turtle Creek or did some one else have it when it was new? I don't find it listed in my A-F files. Any one know the Registration Number ?? Keystone State Relics - GA_Dave - 03-31-2011 That Fox was original to Turtle Creek and that's the original color, "Turtle Green". By 1992, when I photographed it, it had been repainted white with Turtle Green trim. Keystone State Relics - Guest - 03-31-2011
HYATTSVILLE SOLD IT TO MARION THEN TO OLYPHANT.
Dave, Thanks for the info. Refurbed by Kenco in the 1990's. The engine was replaced by a 1992 KME. Fox-y Keystone State Relics - fyrfoto - 04-02-2011
Jefferson's 1950 A-F Model HT #3485 1000 GPM, note fender compartments. WW Jenkins collection
The later Ahrens Fox pumpers with the fender mounted headlights and especially with the compartments look racy, almost like a sports car. These were my favorite of all the Foxes. Thanks for sharing. Doc, the Western Convention will be in New Kensington Saturday August 6, starting at 2:00 PM. Keystone State Relics - GA_Dave - 04-02-2011 Here's a shot of Turtle Creek's Hendrickson 1871S/Howe 100' Grove ladder in the original paint. Keystone State Relics - GA_Dave - 04-02-2011 Here's a shot of the Fox. Keystone State Relics - GA_Dave - 04-02-2011 Last is the previously mentioned 1992 KME. These three shots were taken in 1992.
I liked it better before the refurb. It had more character. Keystone State Relics - Guest - 04-03-2011 Thank you very much for the pictures. Yes, I must admit that lime green was the better color for Turtle Creek's apparatus.
