Juergen
If I remember right, there is a lot more to this truck. I think this was 3 different vehicles assemblied into 1. But I am not positive if this is the 1 or not. Dave Bowen photos - Guest - 07-23-2011 I remember reading that somewhere as well, new truck, ladder off one rig, body off another. Dave Bowen photos - truck1882 - 07-23-2011 1958 ALF ladder, 1981 International Chassis, A Ward Lafrance pump, put together by American Fire Service. I think this was in the Keystone State Fire Apparatus News, Vol 4 #3 Summer 202 issue. My mistake. Dave Bowen photos - Guest - 07-23-2011 The Patterson Twp rig was originally on a IHC VCO Cab I believe. I've got a slide at home, that I'll post of it original. It started life as an IH VCO/ALF 65' The ladder was removed and placed onto a Brockway chassis and different body. But after that I think it was put on another chassis. Might this be the rig in question? If it is, then the body was replaced or very heavily modified. The pic in KSFAN has a different body on it. Dave Bowen photos - Guest - 07-23-2011 yes patterson twp ladder truck is still in service Dave Bowen photos - Guest - 07-23-2011 Here is a photo of the original rig. Patterson Twp. 1957 IHC/American/Grove 750/750/65' Tom Bair Photo Dave Bowen photos - Rheems1 - 07-23-2011
Well, the rig I was looking at came from Covington in Lackawanna County.
Darin, The Covington rig (one of my favorites) was as you described.. ladder came from the IH VCO chassis... they took thier Brockway pumper, stretched the frame, added outriggers (supposedly from the VCO also) and put the ladder on it. That truck, as far as I know, was taken out of service is and now part of the Brockway collection up in Cortland, NY. It was a really, really odd bird especially considering it started life as a pumper and was turned into a ladder truck. Dave Bowen photos - truck1882 - 07-24-2011 First, Rheems is correct, I remember hearing the covington rig went to Brockway for the museum. Second, it is remarkable though, the Patterson Twp ladder as Shoop posted in its original look, is remarkable similar to what Covington had, which they purchased from Montrose. 1958 International VCO/ALF 750/200/65' mml. Third, the body on Patterson's original ladder doesn't appear to have been used on the "new" chassis. Totally different pump and the body itseld has many differences, I am guessing if Conestoga remounted the ladder that they may have built an entirely new body for it. Fourth, if I ever post a "list" like this again, someone please smack me across the head. Back to you davepa. Dave Bowen photos - kieferfire - 07-24-2011 Here is a photo of the Covington truck. Juergen Kiefer photo. Juergen Dave Bowen photos - theunknowncomic - 07-24-2011 the outriggers and the compartments came from a 1974 alf from waterbury,ct that was in milewski's junkyard in scranton,pa Dave Bowen photos - Guest - 07-24-2011 ok my buddy is the asst chief at patterson twp and he stated that the chassis is a 81 intl and the body came off the previous ladder truck the grove stick it was refurbed and replacd onto the intl chasis |
