1989 Duplex/Quality 1500/500. Probably the biggest piece of garbage I have ever had the misfortune of working on/driving. Unfortunately the tub of crap is still around, depite my father's catching it on fire at a third alarm on Philmont Avenue in Lower Moreland Twp about 2-3 years ago (how does someone set a truck on fire and not even burn it bad enough to total it or at the very least warrant a re-paint to red paint job????) This picture circa about 1990- still numbered as "1103" before we went to plain speak, and also has that piece of junk/boat anchor useless "pre-con" valve.

And yes Mister Hooker, that's 1958 F.W.D. sitting in the back. About 16 or 17 years old. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Fireman' />

Who's mister Hooker?

Quality does not have a great reputation.

I thought that was you in the back!

Does anyone know if the coal mine fire is still burning under Carbondale, the fire started 50 or so years ago?

Family in Honesdale area told me about it back in the 90's. I will have to ask them when I can.

Centralia is a weird one. I've been through there a number of times starting back in the 70's when it was still a town. On each return trip there'd be fewer buildings until I don't think there were any except for a couple. It is perfect for scenes in a movie or tv show like The Twilight Zone.

Our TV Stations we get here are from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, and I sort of remember a story about mines fires up there. If I am not mistaken there are numerous OLD mine fires burning around the state, they are pretty much sealed up and kept quiet.

Thanks to Al, Bruce, and everyone that adds information to these posts. I had heard the story of the deadly tiller crash many times. I never realized it was the old Lancaster Pirsch tiller. That's a sad story, indeed.

Lewistown, PA ran this awesome 1963 IH/Bruco pumper pumper. It had a 750 gpm pump. Mattson Collection

Purchased by Sam Simon Sr in the early 90s to use the motor for his 1959 Maxim ex-Pendell Pa.

You never see any Centralia rigs posted. Funny because I often see them from the surrounding communities. (before and after the fire)
