Too close to other Firehouses, No staffing, or what? What ever became of thier apparatus? Thanks Maryland Fire houses - Guest - 07-05-2010 AACO stations 14 and 15 were merged to form Co. 30 Armiger VFD in 1990. The county decided to merge them because the old facilities were getting inadequate and they were in fairly close locations. Stations 11 and 16 were merged in 1988 for the same reasons and were relocated to the currrent station of the Orchard Beach VFD. In 2003 the volunteer company at Armiger was disbanded and merged with Co. 13 Riviera Beach VFD. CO. 30 is paid only now. Some of Green Havens's equipment (truck, engine, brush truck, floodlight truck)were moved to Station 30 but all have since been replaced. The only Co. 15 piece moved to Co. 30 was a brush truck as CO. 15 did not own any other equipment at that time (running county owed engines). Maryland Fire houses - LCFR1620 - 07-06-2010 Thanks Desoto, I do recall seeing some of Green Havens old apparatus. Very cool colors.
So I've been told, Truck-30 (former Truck-14) was sold to somewhere in Canada and supposedly involved in a LODD MVA soon after. AACo refused to allow Armiger to buy a new ladder truck because there were enough trucks in the 2nd, and now after the disbandment we again have a truck/quint 30... Go figure. The GMC and the Dodge Power Wagon are within 1/2 mile from the former co. 15..... I am gonna get some pics soon Maryland Fire houses - rawhitejr - 07-13-2010 Some of Green Havens's equipment (truck, engine, brush truck, floodlight truck)were moved to Station 30 but all have since been replaced.
I was speaking with some of the retired paid guys, and I was told that 15 did own (at least) 2 brush trucks and 1 engine at the time of the merge. The brush trucks were the Dodge Power Wagon and the GMC (x brush 33) and the engine was the Hahn. They were sold after the merge. They did not remember where the Hahn went, but the brush trucks were purchased by one of the paid guys.
