In the crosslay, there is typically 150' of 1 3/4" on each side of one crosslay, and 300' of 1 3/4" in the other crosslay which can be accessed on either side of the engine. However, some engines may have things set up a little different for their own jurisdictions. In the rear, there is always 4" and 2 1/2" hose. There is 1 3/4" in the stinger box, and a lot of the time there is 1 3/4" hose in the rear bed too

Do engines or trucks respond on medical runs with the squads or does the squad only respond to the medical runs?

LACoFD requires a CAPTAIN on EVERY CALL.... So no Paramedic Unit can go alone on a run.

Then why not put the Paramedic equipment on a Engine/Quint/Truck to begin with?

Squad goes to the hospital and you'd take a engine/quint/truck out of service

Los Angeles County Fire Dept - Ladder 68 - 01-07-2010

Wow...A Captain on every run? HFD has finally reconfigured the CAD here to take suppression units OFF of EMS runs. This often times leaves EMS units only responding with the highest rank being E/O on the Ambulance, Medic and/or Squad.

When you say a Captain on every run so they dispatch a suppression unit, does that mean an actual "Gold Badge" in the seat or does that include "Acting" or "Ride-Up" Captains?

There are some engine's in LACoFD that are paramedic assesment and paramedic engine's. But a squad will also respond so the engine isn't out of service stuck at the ER.

Maybe you are referring to this truck: http://centralfire.com/deliveries/detail/?id=376

That is going to the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base in Orange County

The LA County FD did receive a new water tender that is a Freightliner/West Mark w/ a elliptical tank

Los Angeles County Fire Dept - Fire28 - 01-12-2010

Yes I though it was LACO rig. I found out I was mistaken on another site.
