I had the opportunity this week to visit a variety of different fire departments across Virginia during my work travels. I was dodging some clouds and rain, but had some good sun at times also. Most of my photo opportunities occur during the mid or late afternoon as I travel. However, on occasion I do manage to sneak in a fire station visit during my lunch hour.

I was heading to Warsaw, Virginia and had to pass through Montross, which is in Westmoreland County. I have wanted to make this stop for the last several months because a fire truck that my station ran with frequently is now in service in Montross. Having made arrangments to have someone meet me at the Montross sub-station, I was able to photograph this ex- Leesburg, Virginia truck.

What replaced the 1988 Pierce at Leesburg? You have probably seen some photos of the "twins" at Leesburg and I am waiting to get some posed photographs in the very near future.

This photo was taken several weekends ago at a small room and contents fire in a townhouse in Leesburg. I happened to be right down the street when it was dispatched.

Back to Montross.....the 1988 Pierce is now the primary engine from this small sub-station. Also at the station is this 1984 Chevrolet 70/E-One 750/1000 with s/n 3646. This Chevrolet is now running as "Support 5" because most of the fire equipment was removed from the truck and placed on the 1988 Pierce.

After a mid afternoon meeting, the sun was shining and I decided to make a quick run to Tappahannock, Virginia's main fire station.

Engine 1 is a 2004 Pierce Saber 1250/1000 with job number 15387.

Also at Tappahannock is a Seagrave ladder truck that I have always liked.

I need some information on where this Seagrave served prior to Tappahannock.

1974 Seagrave 100'

rehabed by Delmarva in 1998

100'

serial number SR-20768

ex- West Whiteland VFC, Exton, Pennsylvania?

I understand that Tappahannock purchased the Seagrave while at the yearly fire chief's show in Virginia Beach a number of years ago.

Any help is appreciated.
