It was supposed to go to a museum not sit outside!! This was such an awesome monster tanker.... Lionville always had unique pieces. At one time they had this tanker, an International Rescue truck that came from Broomall, Pa and a Peterbuilt pumper. Credit to unknown photographer on the rescue truck PHOTOS BY EMS 12 (PAT SHOOP) - BA000049 - 10-06-2009 Dave, I see that “Old” age is catching up to you and that you mind is going. Read below about the rescue. Have a great day, Bruce 1977 Autocar DA chassis - purchased new and had the 3500 gallon Allied tank from the 1967 Mack R chassis remounted on it. It was housed on 6/25/77. The tank was removed in late 1991 due to it was leaking very badly and the company could not patch it anymore. The tank was sold to Trego Hauling of Lionville. The chassis was sent to 4-Guys to have a new elliptical tank mounted. It was replaced in 11/08 and sold to the Golden Age of Trucking Museum in Middlebury CT for $40,000 to be displayed in the museum. A fitting end to a long term of service for a great truck! The vehicle will be displayed in the museum as it is with Lionville Fire Company lettering left as is. It will be placed OOS on 11/3/08, and left on 11/15/08 for it’s new home. 1980 International S/Liberty, custom enclosed walk-in rescue. This rig is unique because the chassis was purchased used were it was used as a mushroom delivery truck. It was housed 9/13/86, Int’l 466 diesel, 5-speed/2-speed rear manual transmission, 3 bottle 5000 psi cascade, and a 20 KW PTO generator. It was replaced in 1999 and put up for sale. It sat outside for over a year. Finally sold in 6/2000 to Custom Tec Fire Apparatus of Canada who sold it to Campbell’s Bay-Litchfield Fire Department, Quebec, Canada. Delivered in 8/2000. 1985 Peterbilt 310 coe/Ward'79 Vulcan, canopy cab, 1500/750, Cummins L-10 diesel, 300HP, 9-speed manual transmission. It was purchased through Micro Fire Apparatus-Allentown. Housed 9/13/86. Sold in 05/03 to the Saltsburg Fire Company (Indiana County) for $18,000. Saltsburg repainted it all red. My mind must be slipping... at only 29 years of age even!! I must have some wrong notes on this piece! It was always a favorite of mine and was definitly a unique truck, I was just graduating high school when this truck was for sale... only wish I was a little older and a bit richer at that time and history would have changed... it wouldn't have gone to Canada it would be in my garage (that I don't have yet)! Thank you for the updated information on this beauty!! Dave |
