It is, their regular one was probably at the shops. Shops probably ran out of spare squads and gave them a super truck instead

Squads don't have 4 wheel drive. The supe trucks do, which may come in handy during a storm.

First note Rescue Tender 103 is on the list to be replaced with a customized Dodge Rescue tender.

Second the old camp crew superintendant truck tows the USAR SWR equipment and was being used as Rescue Tender 103 to assist with mudslide rescues.

Have any of the new Dodge squads surfaced yet? Rumour had them being assigned in late January of 2010.I am very eager to see how they will look. Please post any photos if you happen to see any.

I've heard it's going to be sometime till the Dodge Squads hit the streets as they need to have the boxes put on them as well as other apparatus arriving at the shops.

I have always been interested in the apparatus that has been developed for special uses by the LAcoFD. But I gotta tell ya

a RESCUE TENDER I am stumped. Can anyone explain what they do when they respond and how they are manned.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Regards

The Rescue Tender's which are assigned with USAR's 103 & 130 are manned 24/7. The original staffing on the USAR was three people Engineer, Captsin and 1 Firefighter the firefighter off the USAR now mans the rescue tender. The Rescue Tender which right now are old squads the Rescue Tender's allow for acsess to area's where it would be diffcult to take the large USAR and carry extra equipment on them. The Rescue Tender's only respond when the USAR's are dispatched for incidents they are needed. As mentioned earlier the department is going to be giving Tender's 103 & 130 customized Dodge's.
