Frank,

Additional info on the Avondale rigs:

1934 Indiana/Phila. Fire Truck Works, open cab, 350/200, front-mount pump, lighter engine purchased for long trips outside

of borough where water was limited, booster reel mounted high behind driver, Barton front mount pump, dual rear wheels, pneumatic tires, cost $2,722, it was never housed, body produced in Roslyn, PA. Sold in 1948.

1948 International K-8/?, full cab, 6 cyl. 126 HP motor, 500GPM Front-mount Darley pump, 1310 gallon tank, full contoured body. It was delivered 3/48 and housed on 5/25/49 at a cost of $6,704. Body was built locally, was remounted on the 1968 International.

Accourding to my records - this was not an Oren.

1949 Autocar C-/Oren, eight man sedan cab, 500/500. It was ordered on 7/47, the chassis was delivered 12/47, but it wasn’t delivered to the company until 4/1/49 and it was housed on 5/25/49 at a cost of $12,000. It had a Autocar Type 501 motor, 6 cyl. 165HP. Sold out of the fire service in 1965 or 1966 to Kaolin Mushroom Farms. This type of cab was not a standard offering of the manufacture at the time-it had to have been built aftermarket by a specialty body builder, Hale pump, carried 30ft 3-section aluminum ladder, 1.5 KW portable generator purchased by the ladies auxiliary.
