This rig is talked about quite a bit in Dave Housel's book "We Can See It From the Bridge" which is one of his many books about his time working for the City of Harrisburg Fire Department during the war years. It was sold to Fairview Township who ran it for a couple of years and probably fell apart LOL. Keystone State Relics - Rheems1 - 02-10-2012
SHARPSBURG PA ALLEGHENY COUNTY
Now this thing is a unique looking piece of apparatus, looking at it I would swear it was the ladder truck that Cedarburg, Wi had... they even had the same door markings (but with a C instead of an S) but according to thier website they had it enclosed and it was not sold to Sharpsburg... either way this thing is a beast. It appears to have one of the dutch made Geesink ladder's on it, Milwaukee had an FWD/Geesink ladder truck also but it was a cab forward FWD. I have included a very small picture from Cedarburg's website of thier FWD/Geesink... I think everyone will agree the resemblence is striking!! antique%2016 by Rheems1, on Flickr You can read about the Cedarburg and see this picture here: http://www.cedarburgfiredept.com/apparatus/antiques.htm Keystone State Relics - davebowen - 02-10-2012
LOL, there is Dumbo.. this used to be Harrisburg City Squad 1 for many, many years... it was underpowered and overworked.
