BCFD CAR 2 ( Asst. Chief of Ops )

2009 Ford Escape

Just a note The Chief of the Department told the Department today that Jan 1st 3 companys are being disbanded for good

Engine 14 Truck 15 and Truck 16 . Also a little note that these Companys are Very busy and will put a big strain on the department.

More info as it comes in.

Good catch Sam!

What a shame about Engine 14, Truck 15, and Truck 16 closing for good. I can't get over it...it's been on my mind all day and that Bolton Hill will be TRUCKLESS as well as Truck 2 already being gone in Downtown in the same general area. It's rediculous how many truck companies are going around central/north city: Truck 7 (Waverly), Truck 9 (Hampden), and now TRUCK 16?!?!?! Trucks 1 (Central-East-Oldtown), 5 (East-Coldstream Park), 6 (South-Locust Point), 10 (West-Harlem Park), and even 25 (North-Roland Park) are going to be running their asses off more than ever. Before you know it the city is going to have less truck companies than Washington, DC.

Wow, Kurt!! This really does suck!! I'm not even from Baltimore and I feel horrible. I hope things get better for BCFD, it's one of my favorite departments.

Politicians seem to forget what an "ESSENTIAL" city service is, as I'm sure there are other places to cut ! Chins up, BCFD !

Baltimore City Fire Department - DCpsychwardFD - 12-09-2009

The fatal fire a few nights ago, closest truck company browned out, hopefully made them realize (at least while the media is heavy on it). Now they are talking about only closing 1 and coming up with money to help with some brown outs. Reactive thinking is not a way to run a fire department.

All I can say is what a shame and I would be willing to drive to Baltimore to stand in front of city hall, on all my days off, as would hopefully hundreds more from this area. My friends in Baltimore are decorating their house with signs as of today too.

The big problem is not enough big fires, the members have call extra alarms on all jobs to strip and deplete the city of apparatus!!

Then that probably won't do much good as the bean counters and politicians don't really care as long as their property isn't affected.

Plus the fire department doesn't bring in any sufficient funds to the city coffers.

supposedly the mayor of baltimore city & chief clack have come up with a compromise that 14-engine & 15- truck will be spared but there will still be 4 rotating closurers per shift, also the city says that they also need 3.5 million dollars to keep 16-truck open from 01/01/2010 until 06/30/2010 they asking for some kind of donation system to procure this 3.5 million dollars.

She's a crook and he's never been a street fireman in his life, good luck Baltimore.

To me $3.5 million seems like alot of money to run a station for 6 months, maybe the mayor is out of gift cards. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' /> Also I think the donation thing is a joke in the making, please donate to keep your paid station open which is paid for with YOUR TAX DOLLAES! I'll go get them a wheelbarrow to carry the money in... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_crazy' />
