Relics - mnsand - 09-22-2007 Back of the cab area. Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA Relics - mnsand - 09-22-2007 And a photo from the rear. Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA Relics - mnsand - 09-22-2007 As some of you might know, I recently completed a project with Arcadia publishing on the history of fire and rescue apparatus in Loudoun County, Virginia. One of the real neat things about the book now being out is some additional information I have received from folks across the country regarding apparatus that once served Loudoun and where they are today. This has been especially true regarding my station, Ashburn. In 1967, Ashburn purchased a International/Oren 1000gpm pumper. It was Ashburn's last red fire truck and eventually was sold to the Neersville VFD, also in Loudoun County. From Neersville it kind of "got lost". I have a friend who was trying to find the truck to purchase it back and begin a restoration. Here is the International back when it served Ashburn. Mike Sanders photo collection Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA Relics - mnsand - 09-22-2007 Here is another photo of the International, this time from the officers side. Mike Sanders collection Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA Relics - mnsand - 09-22-2007 Well....this one really hurts. Honestly. I received these photos this week from a person who found the International in nearby Prince William County, Virginia. I am not sure of the exact location or how the truck got to its current location, but it is pretty sad. I will pass on additional information as I get it. Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA Relics - mnsand - 09-22-2007 And one more. Pass the hankies please. Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA
Mike This looks like one of the CF-600 Semi-Open cabs that is a wanna be. But we know the REAL Truth here. GOOD FIND on this one! Relics - Marc - 09-22-2007
I found this old Baltimore County, Maryland tiller sitting on Route 11 just outside of Woodstock, Virginia last week. ex- Truck 8, Fullerton, Maryland 1977 Mack CF/LTI 100' ex- Talleyville, Delaware. Baltimore County received in approximately 1992. Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA
I remember seeing this truck when it was still in service in Talleyville. Back around '89-'90 my family took a daytrip down to that area to check out Brandywine Univ. for my sister who was thinking of attending there. While her and my mother were checking out the school, my father and i found Talleyville's firehouse and were shown around by a member who was extremely hospitable. I always thought that this tiller was a sharp rig, and i always remembered that extra little jump seat facing forward. Such a shame to see it in the condition that it's in. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Relics - mack505 - 09-23-2007
Well....this one really hurts. Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA
Mike, My condolences. All Relics are tough to see, but when it's one of the family it really hurts. Someone should pay for this type of abuse. Relics - paganores10cue - 09-24-2007 Mike, or anyone else, please try and find out where in Prince William, I work there and will like to go pay my respects. Relics - Andrew2340 - 09-24-2007 Wow, somebody please tell me that's just a good PhotoShop job done on that IHC/Oren! That's pitiful! Relics - dcfireman - 09-25-2007 Found this old USA pumper on Rte 670 (Old Blue Ridge Turnpike), 600 yards north of the intersection in Syria, rural Virginia. Relics - dcfireman - 09-25-2007 Relics - dcfireman - 09-25-2007 I suppose it says Sperryville, which was 12 miles north. Any information, anyone? Mike Sanders Ashburn, VA
Mike, after talking with Dumfries Rescue's Chief we determined it is not in the east end of the county, after that I did a little map hunting and found one possible location so far... Silver Lake in Haymarket, off Silver Lake Road. Look it up on yahoo maps and do the satillite view, kinda looks like the area where the truck is located. |
