The 1971 started its career at Newark, Del. Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder FC, note the differences in warning devices in this 7/72 slide. A cab roof was added before 1982, and the entire rig was refurbed in 1983 and was OOS for 3 months.

Yes sir and the last white&orange rig to be junked which I believe was back in July, 2008. Only lasted 16 years in its life in the department.

Also. with the delivery of T27, all BCFD apparatus in front line service were white and orange. Within the year, with the delivery of the very next piece
(I think it was Rescue 1) the department began the changover to it's current generic white over red scheme.

I'm curious to know if the White over Red paint job and the scotchlite striping was first done by Leesburg, then copied by the Fairfax County units, or vice versa ??? Anyone know ??? I'm thinking perhaps Fairfax County units set the bar for others to follow.....

I wish when they switched the paint schemes, they would have adopted the one that's on Reserve Rescue 1, instead of the Traditional White over Red, that they have now. Or better yet, I wish they would have just stayed with the Orange & White.
